Once upon a time, there was a Jund deck in a metagame

In the vast forest, his world was overrun by invading cats and giant turtles summoning all manner of monstrosities—yet day after day, he pursued his goal: mothefuck*ng to rise from the ashes.

Madness for Froggy's

Because it’s just too tempting to give it a try. The Blue/Green deck of yesteryear was different, as it played its cards at instant speed alongside counterspells. I really wonder why we haven't seen similar strategies since then!

This list is just one possibility. Feel free to suggest alternative lists.

ChatGPT.deck - discussion / ideas

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The brief: "I'd like you to build a WBG deck, in Timeless format. You have free rein. I'll test your list, and then we'll discuss it."Here is the list we arrived at through our discussions. In the end, I barely changed a thing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

His mistakes:

- Playing 4 Llanowar Elves and 23 lands (he thinks—influenced by Elf decks—that Llanowar allows for
4 mana on turn 2 :p ). The total came to 59 cards.

- He forgot to add blue lands to cast his Frogs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The changes we made:

+1 land (bringing the total to 60 cards)
+1 Frog
+3 Deathrite
-4 Llanowar

+15 sideboard cards

--------------------------------------------------------------------

How did he explain his choices during our discussions?

- Ring isn't a core component of the deck, just a tool.

- He maintains that Rhino is still good, even in 2026. In his view, the card is impactful enough on its own to remain powerful; it’s the foundation, the primary win condition.

- He adds many small, extra interactions to the "Goodstuff" strategy, transforming a deck that "just works" into a "powerful deck."

- The blue splash: he simply looked for the best 2CCM threat in Midrange.

- Balemurk: the card interacts with many others in the deck while improving card selection; played on turn 2, it acts as a delayed threat. In practice, having it on the battlefield isn't crucial, but in a long game, Balemurk becomes a genuine win condition.

- He likes playing decks that remain effective throughout the game and never run out of steam—hence the abundance of 4 CCM and 5 CCM threats that generate value.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

What about you? Would you have changed this deck? Comments? Opinions? Thoughts on the future of deckbuilding with AI?

Qu'est-ce qu'une sorcière, selon vous ?

Question sociologique / amoureuse / politique / psychologique. Je trouve que le mot regroupe pas mal de choses ! J'ai ma définition personnelle (et je les adore !) ; mais curieux de savoir ce que les autres en pensent.

5 fast and fun decks for Unranked Timeless

I recommend them all! (Even the white one, which seems odd—it’s inconsistent, but always lands in the right spot).

Before the meta shifted, I had good results with the red and black (reaching Mythic Rank).

Worth a try for anyone who enjoys playing something a bit different that feels great to pilot. I also get the impression that the Timeless metagame (in Ranked) is stable and interesting right now.

Merci beaucoup.

Let's go to Unranked Timeless !

The observation is clear. The more new releases come out, the more we realize that the format absorbs these changes without fundamentally altering itself. A simple mathematical fact... And a format, moreover, now rich in a certain diversity. Although, in my opinion, Energy, when you really want to play the best deck, remains a bit too strong. Not unbeatable, but because it has too many favorable matchups to truly embody the balance of a format.

That being said! What about deckbuilding?

Since June, I haven't been playing ranked formats. I've been able to create decks, like this one (https://moxfield.com/decks/t8gdzIFfFEeeEwCU01Nn9Q), that I really enjoy! And I think I'm starting to be able to say it. Unranked Timeless is one of the best formats for deckbuilders. In my opinion, at least as interesting as Historic Ranked, thanks to numerous cards that are enjoyable to play due to their power.

Given what we know about the matchmaking system, B01, despite a few "anti-game" decks like Outburst + TT and Oops!, isn't a problem in unranked. In two and a half weeks, I've encountered these decks very rarely, as the game often favors balanced opponents! A very good point, even if I have occasionally (rarely) come across competitive Tier 1 and Tier 2 decks, which in a perfect world wouldn't belong in Unranked PvP, but in Ranked PvP. We also sometimes encounter unoptimized versions of these decks, which, in my opinion, are perfectly playable matchups.

So, less at stake? Definitely. Fewer winning rounds to determine a victory? Without a doubt! But so far, I've had much more fun playing my Bruh in this format. In other words, nothing ever happens! And nothing will happen, but we can continue to enjoy playing deckbuilding games, when we enjoy a deckbuilding game.

What kind of evil spell allowed this old-school MBC to function?

I originally created this deck purely out of nostalgia. [[Corrupt]], best WC in a control deck (no doubt about it, oops). The results, probably due to my matchmaking, surprised me. My win rate with the deck is good (very good) at the moment. Still in Mythic low ladder.A deckbuilding game is a deckbuilding game, I guess. Thx MTG.

Good performance with trolling budget MBA

For now, the matchup against Ux is favorable. A 2-1 victory against Energy is also good, though I'm not entirely sure how. S&T remains dangerous. Eldrazi is balanced.

A very enjoyable deck to play, in any case, ideal for starting out in the format with a challenging level of difficulty in terms of gameplay. Ideal for beginners.

Most of the time, my opponents finished the game with very little life remaining when they won, hence the addition of [[Hopeless Nightmare]] above [[Thoughteize]] in the main board. I play Mythic, low ladder.
