What Sets should I be filling?

Im interested in getting into Timeless, but I have not played Arena in a while. I know MH3 and Strix are sets I should be filling up, but what other, if any sets are worth getting packs for? I know Edge has Strip Mine. Thanks in advance.

Turbo Reanimator is quite fun! Some Day 1-2 thoughts

a) Bo1 Is not actually a coin flip format. There are more decisions in the mulligan than some Standard games. Of course sometimes you draw the nuts or they have the Mine.

b) I win more games by reanimating my opponent's creatures than anything. I once beat down with Kappa Cannoner and Tamiyo vs Gran Gran and Tamiyo when I couldn't find Entomb to save my life. Usually happy to see an opposing Entomb :)

c) Demonic Tutor into Daze is actually a valid line. So far the interactions have kept me on my toes - you really need to know your phases and timings.

To more experienced pilots - do you mull hard for the combo, or keep hands if you have 1 piece and countermagic?

Potential new cards for Timeless

https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/mtg-arena/the-hobbit-event-schedule

In this article WotC mentioned that they're going to add new cards from the cube into the "craftable" prize packs.

these cards are currently in power cube but not craftable.

I also removed some obvious cards that are highly unlikely to be legal; like P9, OG Duals, Sol ring, Mana crypt and etc..

What are some cards from this list that you want or is going to make an impact in timeless?

Library of Alexandria in Mardu Energy

Hey all, I'm fairly new to the format but played a lot of Boros Energy in Historic before Ajani got banned so I'm pretty familiar with the archetype. I recently picked up Mardu in Timeless, and am always confused when I see Library being played by other Mardu decks. Obviously I know it isn't meant for the mirror, but I still don't understand why it sees so much play in this archetype.

I get that it improves the matchup against grindy midrange/control decks, but those seem favorable enough as it is. And it doesn't help in the mirror or against combo, which is what I've been struggling the most against. And besides that, it seems counter-productive to the deck's main strategy of flooding the board and emptying your hand pretty quickly. The deck is pretty colored mana-hungry and I've already had to mulligan several hands with only Strip Mines as lands, and Library would just add to that problem.

What am I missing? Is it a sideboard thing for when you're on the draw specifically? Or am I just not giving it enough credit in certain matchups?

7-0 Mono Black aggro w/ Daze

Deck feels extremely well positioned right now. High upside for broken turn 1s with dark ritual as well as plenty of ability to grind. Dauthi feels amazing in this meta.

Esper Library Control

wanted to share my control list! very much based on the esper control Novos list from a few months ago.

i've had more success with this list than any other control list. library of alexandria is a powerful card, and i've had many games where i was able to climb back up to 7 mid or late game, between mana drain into a big wan shi tong, and treasure cruise and flow state.

i could see making room for a few baubles to have with lurrus.

librarian also is great against all the tutor effects going around.

i much prefer temporary lockdown as a sweeper over wrath of the skies, as i can hit 2cmc cards for 3 mana.

day of judgment and mental misstep are my flex slots, the rest of the maindeck feels pretty locked in. i could see shaving a copy of wan shi tong.

games have felt interactive and interesting! i like this deck :)

any advice, comments or suggestions is much appreciated.

Bilbo Painter "Control"

I thought I would give my UW painter control list a new try after bilbo got added.

I'm playing 4 mana drains and 10 moxes to try to get up to the combo. Also really like Stock Up with all the mana, reminds me of vintage lists.

[Timeless] Mono Black aggro suggestions

Decklist:

https://moxfield.com/decks/jy6F-sLQPUynmkbh1VWXTg

I’ve been getting into Timeless for the upcoming qualifier, and have really enjoyed mono black aggro. [[Grief]] + [[Reanimate]] means you’re naturally quite strong against combo and adding [[Strip Mine]] means you’re also quite strong against decks that need to operate on more than very low resources. I also like that this deck is quite good against Force of Will and Daze because everything is so cheap.

Then we come to the sideboard. Currently I’m working with the idea of going into a [[Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord]] and [[Saint Elenda]] juke, with tutors to make that consistent. The idea is to bring this in against fair decks that don’t rely on counterspells (like Mardu Energy), to circumvent things like graveyard hate and Chalice of the Void. This is something I like conceptually, but the times I’ve brought in this combo the deck hasn’t felt amazingly consistent… Any ideas on how I can approach this would be very much appreciated!! :)

Architect is to good with Reanimator Shell

If you fight the Reanimator Plan, that cheap cardflow and strip mine fetching is hardly beatable for combo.

Architect kills the format slowly

Strip Mine makes the format terrible.

I am new to this format, I only play now cause I finished in top 250 last season and I will play the qualifier.

It feels like you win if you draw more lands than your opponent, or you strip mine them more. while most decks I play only have 18-19 lands.

I've played all the other formats, never have I been more frustrated playing magic

Once upon a time, there was a Jund deck in a metagame

In the vast forest, his world was overrun by invading cats and giant turtles summoning all manner of monstrosities—yet day after day, he pursued his goal: mothefuck*ng to rise from the ashes.
