Remember my wrecked Mazda 6 from 2 months ago? Well here she is:

It’s been two months since I asked you guys if I should take a chance on 2020 Mazda 6 after someone crashed into it. Well… I did.

Sent it to a local bodyshop that quoted me $800 for the body work + mechanical work. Spent around $2100-$2200 on replacement parts. Total was around $3000 out of the $ 6,666 insurance gave me.

The rear door was replaced alongside the fender, rear bumper and taillight. The fender was cut out and replaced with a junkyard fender then repainted. The door and bumper were also painted. The rear wheel well was completely rebuilt with new parts.

The car been out for a couple of weeks now and it drives exactly like it used to before the crash. I was afraid that something would be off after a crash like that but it’s genuinely a miracle.

When I went to do the alignment no one believed that this is the same car from the first pic.

I’ll hopefully still provide updates on the car for the next few months to a year.

And yeah… that’s it… she’s back to life!!! Lost half its value but I don’t really care as I plan to drive it till it can’t drive anymore.

Update: should my Mazda be brought back to life?

I’ve decided, I’m going through with the repairs and I’m gonna share it here. I’m bringing her back for the following reasons:

1- It will not cost as much as you think: I’ve noticed that most people on this sub are living in NA. Well… I live in the Middle East (KSA specifically). I was already quoted $800 for labour, that includes bodywork, mechanical work and painting. I’ve spent about $2,000 on parts so far with the rest costing an extra $1,000 at most. All in all the car won’t cost me more than $4,000 to fix. Similar damage would cost an arm and a leg in the US.. I know!

2- Sentimental value: this is my first ever “”new car””. I went through college with it being my most valuable possession and the most reliable thing in my life. I’m attached to the car and would hate to let it go.

3- I’m 24 and I can take the hit if this thing fails: I just graduated and I’m closing in on a very well paying job soon that will allow me to keep this car even if it becomes unreliable post the fix. I will not be hit as hard and I would love the first hand experience at such a young age.

So… I’ve already dropped it off and spent $1,500 on a (scrapyard door, scrap yard fender, scrapyard bumper and a scrapyard taillight). I’ve also spent $550 on a new suspension and a new break calibre. There still more parts to purchase but I’m waiting on the body work to begin.

Should my Mazda be brought back to life?

Woke up about a week ago to my 2020 Mazda 6 looking like this. The guy who hit claimed he fell asleep (at 12:00 PM btw) and veered into it while it was parked. Got around $6.2k from insurance.

Now I got my car and $6.2k in hand. Repair is estimated around $4k but I’m not sure if it can ever be fully repaired after a hit like that. What do you guys think? Should I give it shot and try to repair or should I just sell it as it is?
