Head coach this year and I need a bag

So I currently have a tote with wheels that holds a bucket of balls, my glove and my wife’s glove, cones and a few 1/4 pvc pipes. Also have a handful of spare gear for the girls and other odd and ends. On practice days that leaves me with two buckets of balls and my catchers by hand. I’m realizing now that on game days I’m only going to need a fraction of that stuff and even during practice I really only use the three buckets of balls, cones and catchers gear. I think what I’m wanting is an oversized duffle bag so I can keep the catcher gear, spare gear for the girls and the cones in it. It doesn’t need to carry a bat because my daughter only uses two out of her four bat slots. Any recommendations on a cheap but sturdy duffle bag? Or what do yall use?

New players

I have a parent reaching out, they came to a tryout and had one more to go to then they’d decide. They opted to join my team and she let me know today. The problem I’m facing is that I’d love to have the girl, she’s got a great attitude and is super coachable. The mother however is a problem, at tryouts she stepped onto the field 3 times to coach or correct her daughter while I was actively working with her daughter. The last time I told her mom that turf was for players and coaches only and if she needed me or her kid she could call for one of us.

Now that she’s wanting to join the team I need to tell her outright that I want her kid but that kind of behavior will not be tolerated. I’d prefer to do this in person but I also don’t want to waste anybody’s time by having her come to practice just for her to decide she doesn’t like my stipulation.

The Sagrada Família

Listening to old episodes and I’m on the wonders of the world one currently. Wade got a point for the Sagrada Família based on the fact that it would be finished in three years like it was supposed to be, and if it wasn’t finished Wade would lose that point and Mark would gain the point. That episode posted 3/31/23 and as of today 7/12/26 the construction has yet to be completed thus retroactively Wade loses a point

8u rec ball practice.

I have been an assistant coach on my kids 8u team for three seasons now, and at the end of this past spring season the head coach stepped out and I took over the team. Generally I am doing fine with the team so far, we are practicing once a week through the summer. What I find I struggle with is structuring practice. I try to go in with an idea of what I want to do drill wise or whatnot, but come day off it kind of falls apart and we end up winging it. I’ll say it’s worked out so far but I don’t like it lol.

So I guess my question is, what does practice look like for yall? Any drills you like doing every practice, or ones you do every couple of practices? And how do yall structure it? And I’ll add because I know someone will say it, I won’t base my practice off what we have been doing for the past three seasons with the previous coach. Cause that was essentially nothing at all

Odd question maybe

My daughter’s 8u spring season is coming to an end, which also marks the end of the team she’s been with for years now. Head coach is moving to a different state and half the team has to age up (she does not) she needs a new helmet after this season so I wanted to clean her helmet up real good and have her whole team sign it. I’d also like to seal it after to preserve the signature after the fact. Has anyone signed or written on a helmet and had luck with how it turned out? Should I use sharpie or paint marker? Do I use a normal clear coat to seal it afterwards?
