Has anyone else noticed younger gens having surface level friendships/relationships?

My millenial sibling and I were just talking about this. Our youngest sibling is gen z, in college, and she only has surface level relationships with friends. They hang out, they get food, they watch movies, and they text constantly. But if you ask any normal questions they have no idea how to answer it. "What do your friends like to do? Where are they from? Do they have any siblings?" And its all idk. I think they literally just send eachother memes and links all day. No deep conversations. The friends are like that too when you talk to them. They know nothing about eachother. Its so weird!

Exploring something new :)

I'm undiagnosed, (likely) autistic. New things make me nervous. Whenever I am going to try something new that scares me, I dress my birb up as a space explorer and give myself a pep talk. Something along the lines of I'm trying something new, it's an adventure, and I'll be ok. Today I'm on a camping trip, and I'll be trying out tubing on the river for the first time. Im still nervous, but Ashie is ready for an adventure!

ETA: it was not as scary as I thought it would be and I really enjoyed it 😊

Oh my GOURD I love him!

I have named him Gourdy 😆 I was most intimidated by crocheting the legs and sewing on the eyes and eye lids. But overall he was pretty easy to make and the pattern was very clear and well written. His little toofs are so cute! 😍

Pattern is from Cottontail Whiskers

Yarn is Loops and Threads Soft Classic

Should I put my bonus toward my credit card or my high yield savings account?

My bonus this quarter is $340ish, but I would round that up to $350 or $400.

My last credit card that carries a balance (Discover) is at $2,400ish. Interest rate is 19.74%. I can pay this off in the next few months. At best, putting my bonus here would shave off a month of repayment.

My high yield savings has $1,200ish. Interest rate is 2.36%. I haven't contributed to this account since I put the $1,200 in a few months ago. I'm really wanting to add the bonus here. I am also in the process of adding $50 per pay to this account. I filled out the paperwork for it this morning with HR. There is $3 transfer fee from my primary checking account to this account due to it being a different bank.

Edit to add: You all are right. I will make a CC payment. I've decided to make it up to myself later. I can add money to the HYSA account later using the money I save after paying off that card. Thanks!!

Edit again: My HYSA is separate from my normal savings account. I do have a standard savings account with additional funds. I didn't disclose that here because I use the standard savings account as my emergency fund. Its harder to access the money in my HYSA.

This one made me giggle. My husband and I joke that there's two types of people in every relationship. The one that loads the dishwasher like an architect...and the one that loads it like a feral raccoon 🤣

I'm the feral raccoon if you were wondering 😅 we never had a dishwasher growing up. Or had one in my dorm at college. So I never learned to properly load it. So I just cram it in there!

250 years America merch

I have seen a lot of 250 years merch for the upcoming 4th of July. Does anyone remember anything like this in 2001 for 225 years? I was only 10 at the time, but I don't remember any of this nonsense.

What is the most useful item you ever crochetted? I'll go first.

My travel waterbottle does not fit in the cup holder of my car. So I freehanded this pouch for my passenger seat. I double stranded size 5 yarn so it's extra thick and durable. It's been so nice with the heat this week while I'm traveling for work 🥵 AND! I used all scrap yarn! 😊

Yarn is Loops and Threads Carousel Twist in Birthday Cake, Tickled Pink, and Tide Pool. Birthday Cake was used throughout as the second strand.

We just got back from a vacation and my hands are so dry. My mother in law is obsessed with this brand. She uses it exclusively at her house and brings it along on vacations that we go on together. She puts it at every sink. She also gifts it to us, but I typically only have it one sink at a time to give my hands a break. I don't want to say anything to her since it brings her joy. Im usually better about using my lotion to manage this, but due to some family stuff I forgot. Does anyone else experience this with the handsoaps? Or is this just a me thing?

This is year 2 of me crocheting and I feel like my vacation prep is getting serious now 🤣 I was planning my projects and yarn colors DAYS before I packed a single clothing item for myself for our trip. Last night I stayed up late prepping 12 sets of tiny multi colored body parts just to avoid bringing extra colors of yarn on this trip 😅 It just made me giggle. Hubby was relaxed and I was crocheting like a mad women to save space in my crochet bag. What's your vacation prep look like? I want to learn your ways!
