What did Sanzaru get wrong about Sly 4?

This is not meant to rage bait and I just want thoughtful answers if possible.

I was a huge Sly Cooper fan and played the trilogy when I was a kid. Seriously. Rewatching Let's plays on YouTube over the last few days unlocked core memories for me, right down to the clinking sound of the clue bottles to the aggressive shattering sound they make when you hit them with the cane.

That said, for whatever reason I never bought Sly 4. It might be because it was on a different gaming platform than I had at the time, it could have been because it was so long after Sly 3 that I had already moved on to other things, but I didn't buy it.

I thought at the time it sounded like Sanzaru games was highly appreciated by the fan base for rescuing Sly, but these days when I go on this subreddit (which I only just discovered) it seems like the fan reaction to Sly 4 is a lot more critical than what I remember.

I haven't played the game, and I've been spoiled on the major plot points so you don't have to tiptoe around it for my sake.

What did Sanzaru get right? And, more importantly, what did they get wrong?
