Appropriate Tip

New here and am hoping for some advice on tipping.

I have Instacart+ and use it mostly for same day Costco orders. I typically tip 10-15% on orders ranging from around $50-$200, with the smallest tip I’ve given being around $8 and the largest $40. I will tip more if the item is bulky/heavy, or if I have a large number of items, or if the service is super.

I’m going to be placing a same day Costco order for the $279 vacuum cleaner. It’s just one item, but bulky. What would be an appropriate tip? I’m not made of money but I want to be fair.

Are your kids basically just like cats?

Are your kids like cats when it comes to gifts?

I spend time picking out the “perfect” gift, imagining excitement, joy and gratitude with something new.

And often the actual winner is:

~ the cardboard box
~ the bubble wrap
~ the Amazon air pillows
~ the ribbon/bow

The toy itself gets ignored while the box it came in somehow becomes:

~ a raft
~ a fort
~ their new abode

I can relate, because as a child, I would spend hours upon hours just playing with household items that weren’t originally meant to be toys. I probably could have placed all of my “actual” toys in one storage tote, but I see many households these days with avalanches of toys. Some look like toy stores lol and I’m wondering if that’s the new norm.

From a frugal standpoint, I’m super impressed whenever I see kids repurposing household items as toys, much like a cat would. I think it builds creativity, resourcefulness and frugality.

Are your kids like cats? How do you frugally approach toys?

I recently came across a post I this sub in which the contributor mentioned that her family of three only spent $10.75 on souvenirs during a five night trip.

I was super impressed, as was many others.

Here’s the original post https://www.reddit.com/r/Disneyland/s/yVCTY48Q9O

What’s the least you’ve ever spent on souvenirs at Disneyland? Have you ever spent zero dollars there? What was the context?

I personally have visited many times over my lifetime, but there were only a few times where I didn’t purchase a single souvenir. I almost always end up buying a small treat to give to a young one.

Edited to add that my favorite free souvenir was a coaster from Oga’s. I didn’t know it was a thing, so I nerdily asked the bartender if I could keep it lol 😂
