Okay, I don't really want to talk about this but in an effort to make sure that UTY doesn't devolve the same way Cocoapowder did, I'll try to cut this off at the roots before it becomes a serious problem.
Hello. I'm sure most of you don't know me, but I used to be involved with Cocoapowder. I made fanfiction and some sprite box stuff that a lot of people didn't really enjoy. And the reason why is because of how I depicted the two main characters, Chara and Clover. I'll get to Chara in a second but let me talk about the more prominent one first.
As stated in the highlighted text, we all realize that Clover in terms of gender is up to interpretation, stated by the UTY devs themselves. The reason I'm talking about this is mainly to stop it from becoming a bigger problem in the future and hopefully prevent or, at least, postpone what happened with Cocoapowder. Now I'm sure all of you have your own depictions of Clover that you're comfortable with sharing and showing off to the community whether they be male, female or nonbinary. And, as we see in the image, Shinix is trying to enforce their own interpretation on an entire community. Most of you see them as enby since, well, the other humans in UT/DR are and that is perfectly fine. I have nothing against that and, in fact, I love it. I love the fact that people are comfortable in depicting a character however they like with zero backlash. The same, however, cannot be said within the community that R&Y has spawned. It has devolved and pretty much become toxic and gatekeeping and tiring. I have spent 8 to 9 months trying to push back against it and...failed. Now I know some of you come from there. Some of you are tired of having this conversation and I am too. But what's more important here is how any other depiction of Clover is seen in that regard as 'erasure' when in UTY they are stated as left up to interpretation. And some won't believe that despite the very source being in front of their face. I have a word of advice for those who don't like some depictions. Please just ignore it and move on. There is no reason for you to get so hung up on something you don't like and even insult it, which is unnecessary. One of the more prominent members of this community depicts Clover as female which I think is amazing. They, and many others I'm sure, would be attacked just for that reason in the main R&Y community. The best way, I think, would be to implement a new rule which has the statement from the UTY devs be a part of the rules of both the sub and the discord to prevent any harassment towards people who depict Clover how they like in accordance with the other rules.
Now, as for Chara, I'm sorry to say that I myself depict Chara as female, but don't parade it around as if it were canon like how Shinix does. When I refer to canon I do use the they/them pronouns so that I don't spread any misinformation as well as solidify the canon in my mind. I do not do it for any malicious reason and hope that others don't disregard or throw away this entire rant just for this part because I really do think this is important.
This last part goes out to Shinix. If you're reading this, using your influence to try and force your own depiction onto an entire community is wrong and disrespectful to the devs and the community. You do not get to twist their words to support your own personal opinion. You made a good mod, a fantastic mod even, but this attitude only serves to harm both your mods reputation and your own. If you want people to respect you then you shouldn't say that some people deserve to be 'eradicated' or ban users who depict Clover as anything other than enby. This is not to make anyone feel guilty for liking R&Y or anything like that. I still love it despite everything and, while being hesitant to play it, I will probably play it again one day.
This is not to spark any drama or negative things. If at all possible, I would like for all responses to be respectful and open to conversation. If there are any negative comments about this or ones that insult me I will simply be ignoring them and moving on to ones that wish to have a real conversation. The only one I am really calling out here is Shinix. I do not harbor any negative thoughts or feelings towards them, just the attitude and how they present the topics at hand. That is all. Have a good day/night.
Apparently I am being impersonated. If you get any links from an account similar to mine I implore you not to click on them.
