Rant on Jigris and Vaazha 2

Telugu movies need better PR and social engagement. A normal Malayalam film gets hyped easily imagine a really good movie coming out, and the hype becomes surreal people call it the best movie ever. Meanwhile, a normal small Telugu film doesn't get any hype these days.

I regularly watch movies which got recommended on instagram pages/suggest or a small scene creates good impression, and the most recent one, Vaazha 2, is the best movie I've watched this year. It brought out all my emotions while watching, and I enjoyed it a lot. I suggested the movie to my friend and told him to watch it in theatres, but he didn't. So I told him to at least watch it on OTT. What he said next blew my mind: he said the movie is overrated, it's the worst, and social media is overhyping it. I asked him, 'Huh? Did you watch the film? When did you watch it?' He said, 'No, I didn't.' I asked, 'Then how do you know the movie is overrated?' He said he watched Twitter.

I asked another colleague, and he said this Twitter trend is because people are ignoring Telugu movies and watching Malayalam movies instead. I said, 'Huh? A movie is a movie regardless of language. If you make better movies, people will watch them.' He said, 'When a film called Jigris released, nobody supported it in theatres, and when normal malayalam movies releases people went to that instead supporting our own small movies when they came. So now they are taking revenge on Vaazha 2.'

I was like, 'WTF?!' I mean, when did Jigris even come out? I didn't know the movie existed until now. I told him I'd watch it today, and I did. Oh man, the movie is not what I expected. The climax worked for me, but the film felt forced and didn't have many laughs at all. The main character, Karthik, is portrayed like how people dream of being NO Work, drunk, and roaming freely. I mean, yes, that sounds like a dream, there's no character arc at all. The movie is single-handedly carried by Karthik's character, except the character is OVER THE TOP!!!! I say it again OVER THE TOP!!! and He drinks a lot like it is water if it is portrayed as comedy it would've taken in but in a situation of struggle nah. I wanted to relate to him, but he's just full of trash. The movie had a lot of scope for comedy and improvement, especially with the main character. But they just wasted the potential.

Also,

If a movie exists, they need to promote it well. Reach out to 1000 and if the movie is good they promote it 1000 and then word of mouth does its wonders,

But if not promoting How would people know it's good and playing in theatres? They need to hire some social media accounts.

My colleague compared Jigris to Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi. honestly, comparing Jigris to Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi is an insult. I would watch Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi 1000 times more than Jigris.

Needed that character arc of vivek but NO, becoming a sensible mature person is not in their books, well at last the Karthik did get a job but the realisation is missing

People need to come out of their bubble if they say they'll watch only one language or industry. They're missing out on great movies.

Vaazha 2: comedy worked for me and emotions came out because we or i imagined myself in the character and involved very much.

TLDR: Vaazha 2 was my favorite film this year, but friends judged it as "overrated" without watching—just from Twitter. One colleague claimed people are taking "revenge" on Vaazha 2 because Telugu film Jigris was ignored.
