Instagram DMs sent not showing up on Desktop, but Are Being "Seen"

I have been DMing with someone else -- we mutually follow each other -- on Instagram for over a year, but in the last few months, my DMs to them have not been showing up in my own DM history on Instagram Desktop. However, I know they are being "Seen" by the mutual follow.

I do not have Instagram on app to check and see if it might be different there, because I do not have that type of phone. But no other person's Instagram DMs that I can tell is doing that for me, even with other people whom I follow and who follow me back.

I am not sure what the issue is -- the person is still following me, so I'm going to assume it's either a Desktop issue or a browser issue or another issue in the Instagram backend. But I'd like to know WHAT the issue is. Anybody have any pointers? :-/ Thanks.
