How much does a bad night's sleep impact your workout?

Slept poorly, today's workout didn't hit goals.

Does anyone else find this to be the case?

On vacation

Went to a gym yesterday as a pay-per-day user.

Very very different to my home gym. Loads of Technogym machines and hardly any free weights. I guess the locals don't bother with legs as single leg press machine was the sum total of lower body stations and not enough plates to do any significant squats or deadlifts.

Pull ups vs Plate loaded lat pull downs.

Loved the episode on pull ups. Still can't do one! So DAMN heavy.

Yet I can do 105% of bodyweight for 4 quality reps on plate loaded pull down.

Do I need to get to 120% or some other number to be confident of nailing my first pull up?

[Hiring] UK line drawing for tattoo budget £100

I want someone to create a simplified, but not entirely minimalist, line drawing of the front of Church of Santa Maria della Salute in Venice so I can have same tattoed on my upper arm as a mark of gratitude.

The joy of a new exercise in a new block.

I've recently stepped up to 4 days a week push pull, a deadlifts+accessories, and a squat+accessories.

The latter goes safety bar squats, hack squats, belt squats (working to 'no hands'), calf raises, tib raises. Previously I was doing leg press instead of these new-to-me hack squats.

Oh boy the hack squat melts my quads. The machine alone, even without plates, is a workout. Gonna be an interesting six weeks.

Penicillin Allergy - Get tested (UK)

I was told all through childhood that I was severely allergic to penicillin.

Last year I (64M) was hospitalised with severe diverticulitis. Lots of iv antibiotics, and a dash or five of morphine. Avoided surgery. The consultant urged me to get tested after discharge saying her preferred drugs were off limits due to the allergy and that a lot of the time it's a misdiagnosis or you've grown out of it.

Approached my GP. Was referred to Guy's Hospital in that London. Got a scratch test appointment within a month. Did test - no reaction.

Went back this morning for a challenge test. No reaction. Nadda. Bupkiss.

I'M FREE!

Get yourself tested and God bless the NHS.

Contemporary Swytch conversion

Anyone got a B with the current thin battery pack rather than the old two bricks one? Does it deliver? What sort of daily/periodic use does it get? Any reliability issues over time?

(I have a B with no battery, the old two brick having gone to battery heaven in a disappointingly short space of time. My knees would like me to resurrect it somehow.)

How much cardio do I need to do?

Iong story short.

Came to lifting after serious illness.

Prior to illness was running three/four times a week (have done dozens of half marathons and countless 10ks and 5ks)

Lifting bug bit hard and running tailed off to nil six months ago.

Now the strongest I've been in 40 years but worried my CV fitness is now shot.

In a balanced program/lifestyle how much running/cycling/other CV should I be doing?
