Kind of excited that I figured out how to simulate tv glow in a dark room. DungeonDraft is so cool!

Why don't I see more large complex battle maps?

So I've long noticed that most battle maps seem to be limited in size. Like most buildings are either 10x10 with a few floors or it's a large map with only 1 level.

I'm working on a modern luxury apartment building (50x50 map, building is 21x21, 5ft scale) with 5 different levels total.

Are these less common because of how much effort they take to make, or is their a functional reason that they don't make for good practical game play?

EDIT: Thanks very much to everyone who took time to comment and contribute to this discussion. This is my first interaction with this community and it has been very positive :) I think all of this info will help me to make better maps.

My first ever dungeondraft map - would love feedback

Welcome to the (modern) town of Liberty! We've got it all:

Luxury accommodations (trashy motel) Prime shopping (general store) World class food (cheap diner) Thoughtful recreation (library) Gas station

We also have a clinic! The doctor seems to keep strange hours, but I wouldn't worry too much about that...
