service fees that arent the tip?
i just got back from dinner. this place had 9 dollar drinks, 11 dollar appetisers and no entrees under 25 dollars. on the bottom of the menu it said that they would add a 20% service fee to the bill, but that was NOT the tip. you were encouraged to tip anyway.
i’m just not really sure how to feel about this? i fully support raising the prices of your food in order to pay your servers a liveable wage but i feel like if you do that i shouldn’t also be asked to tip. because that’s what the tip is supposed to be.
what would you guys have done…?
