sorry juniors

a frnd of mine recently added me to the iiest fresher's group...and i stayed just to see what was going on cuz ofc there's a thousand new students coming in.

man was i disappointed.

for some reason i thought that maybe the 29' batch would not repeat the same stupid ahh intro shi that we faced from our seniors...but well. its just disheartening how literally our immediate jnrs who just stepped into the clg are being criticized over every minor fucking detail instead of getting the help they need. sophomores are texting freshmen girls "DM me asap"...WHY ? just...why? why tf are we taking advantage of ppl WHO ARE LITERALLY A YEAR YOUNGER THAN US. and maybe i shouldnt say this, but half of these so called seniors probably have 5 supple exams due.

maybe being in this sub made me think that our batch is different, but ig i was wrong. i just dont understand how people can repeat the same thing that they went through instead of changing it.

Tech people on Reddit, what suggestions would you make to someone trying to break into tech?

I am a B.Tech CE undergrad. The college I am in is a pretty good college, I get enough exposure and companies on campus. From my seniors I have heard they put a CGPA criteria mostly.

I have spent my first year exploring my own major and somewhat in tech too and have come to the hard realisation that my major does not interest me.

I desperately want to shift to tech and I honestly can't back this decision by anything other than pure interest.

I LOVE CODING. I truly do. I had PCMB + CS in highschool (Yup that's right) and I have always loved coding and I was kinda good (?) back then and even now

(ik that prolly doesn't matter lol).

My second year is yet to start in a month and I have sort of made up my mind to pivot to tech. I'm working on a couple of projects and ik C++, Python and ML gives me heart eyes.

I am completely ready to build ANY skill required. Now, I cant change my major, but I don't want it to hold me back. I have a good GPA and intend to keep one, otherwise i prolly wont be eligible to appear for half of the placements.

I just want some suggestions, any suggestions that might help me.
