Promotion/Relegation and Roster Lock discussion
I don't follow any other sports/esports with a promotion/relegation system in place, so I don't know how normal this is, but I'm having a really hard time understanding the thought process behind the roster lock rules.
So as it stands currently if you finish bottom 2 of the league you're forced to run the gauntlet against top FaceIt teams to get back into OWCS. But your roster is still locked to your stage 1 roster that you lost with and you need to promote back with that roster, despite the fact that this tournament is closer to stage 2.
Then after you're promoted roster lock lifts and you can change 3(?) players out on your team.
This is complete insanity to me. If you lose in regular season you probably want to make changes but can't, and if a new orgless team makes it through promo/relegation with their roster then there's nothing stopping an org from buying them out and replacing half the players who earned their spot in OWCS anyway. Sure, the team can turn down such offers but that requires the goodwill and financial sacrifice of the players not at risk of being cut.
From where I'm standing you should get to shuffle your roster until the promo/relegation tournament and then it is locked, and anybody who earns their spot in OWCS is safe and can't be cut from a team. Likewise no players who fail to qualify can get a free pass into OWCS.
How is everyone else feeling on this?
