Nova Scotia BK pulled through!

Never been a frequent BK lounge customer, but with all the talk about this new-and-improved Whopper I suddenly got my yearly craving and had to try.

Double Whopper off the broiler with bacon and cheese. Admittedly it did take a hot minute (closer to 20 as the place was rather busy) but worth every penny. Once you Americans FO with your tariffs, I can see myself becoming a regular.

Huge improvement, and lightyears ahead of McDonalds or other major fast food joints.

Subdividing ourselves into smaller and smaller social groups is harming our ability to come together.

I don’t believe any particular group is more of a contributor than others, and I fully recognize the importance and necessity of forcing some of the immediate sensitive subjects into the public eye (specifically those that are not allowed in this sub, and/or that result in immediate, tangible harm). Some people need to be taught how to not be nasty (and some seemingly can’t). Everyone benefits from stomping out senseless hate.

I just feel it’s swung so far in the opposite direction where now even the slightest difference between one another comes with its own affiliate group. To use a sub-safe analogy, think of a small company working in a single office. They work together as a team, and all feel like part of the bigger picture. Suddenly the company grows and has two departments. You’ll likely feel a stronger connection to your department, and suddenly that bigger picture becomes more hazy, but maybe perceptible. Finally you end up with a multi-national corporation with hundreds or thousands of departments and suddenly no one gives AF about the company except for the executives, and so long as it stays afloat. You’ve become so far removed from the overall tribe, and only see what’s best for you and your smaller team.

I feel Canada is experiencing this currently. We have so many marginalized communities and groups that are subdividing further and further, and with widening opinions on what Canada is supposed to be, because each smaller and smaller group has more refined and niche opinions.

I don’t know what the solution is, and I trust there are likely infinite angles that I haven’t considered. I just know it doesn’t feel good to be at each other’s throats at a time where the world has enough sources of division already.
