With new newbie safe region in game. Can we ease old higsec restrictions?

Over the years game introduced a lot of restrictions to the "higsec" just to enforce some of the limitations that were added into the area over the last decades.

One of the prominent examples are - capitals in higsec.
You can have those already there that were from before blocking them to enter - because people were baiting and ganking with them. Before the CONCORD addition they could be just sitting and tanking players and FACPO for hours.

Time have changed - we have now the "green dot" that could prevent any offensive use - so you cannot sit /enter one with bad setting in higsec.
We also have CONCORD, just in case.

Just to be clear - the limitation for capital use have much bigger repercussions

To point something obvious. Our 3x expanded freighters have cargo topping around 7% of available volume. While a cargo ship usually assumes 60-70% of space. So without this limitation the freighter could have 12.000.000 m3 of cargo.

Next is the mobility.
With the assumption of the higsec open - we are talking about possibility to move your capitals across vast distances just by gating.
I don't assume this would be abused by the "big bad blocks" because wardecers would kll them/tackle on every gate. So mostly small groups that can control wardecs or chars in NPC corporations.

Rorquals in higsec - honestly any one who is willing to risk a excavator to a catayst, and generally willing to spend time mining - is a special snowflake that i have nothing against.

This is just idea but we could have a lot of stuff back to higsec a lot of that was taken away over the years in the form of various nerfs

New Eden is to stale and smugglers gates are the culprit but also solution.

People complain that big groups are to fat, they hold to much sov. It is hard for a small group to take hold of space if they need to compete with huge coalitions.
But look at map : https://evemaps.dotlan.net/universe
Do you see those long lines between regions, those are smuggler gates.
CCP created them so people would not bunker down and lock them self out. They are the reason why :

  • Init with home in fountain can hold space in cloud ring and delve.
  • Imperium span from period basis to geminate
  • Winter co. to be deklein, geminate, fade and tenal at the same time

All of this is enabled by those gates.

My proposal is to make those gates a true smuggler gates, maybe change some regional gates to be smuggler connections on top.

But instead of making those connection static, we could introduce some mechanic, or just make that every 20-40 days connections for some of those gates shift.

Now your dead end region is exposed and you need to make 50 extra jumps, to try to still control it.
This is the best way to overcome the sprawl of big groups, solving at the same time probably all issues with the jump bridges. Because if you disable jump bridge, there is no backup gate connection that still lets you get to important objectives.
20 or 40 days of disconnect means that region is lost if any one want to claim it with enough force.
Shifting connection means that every 20-40 days your space shifts and you can enemy can come from different side, but also means that you can attack others from different side.
It means that you no longer need to be in coalition that is 1 jump away from you, as tomorrow the same gate could be leading to the heart of your enemies and your closest ally system could be 40 jumps away.

If we want to shakeup eve, limit sprawl of big groups i feel this is the best way to do it as it is also preventing replacing one block control with other block control.

Do you think that T1 carriers are OP ?

People on reddit constantly say that :

  • carriers need a boost
  • application is bad
  • dps is bad

etc.

In general carriers should not be worse than marauders in terms of dps and ratting. For sure when you have 200 carriers on grid this is something different, but this applies to every possible ship.

So my question here to all of you. Are carriers over powered from your perspective and why do you think this way?

For me carriers are underwhelming and need to be boosted.
We want to see them used, i want to hunt them again.

Interesting design. Maybe this could be adopted as cheap way to launch interceptor drones to higher attitudes.

Please don't consider this a troll post, i believe in Ukrainian ingenuity and assume maybe a glance by some engineer will spark idea how to utilize this as maybe platform for launching some drones cheaper/faster to higher attitudes.
Maybe this could be adopted as some cheap "bait" for other systems.
This looks to be very cheap and fast to produce.

Space for ages needed a NPC space, now NPC faction got evicted.
It would benefit whole New Eden and make the game much more interesting from lore perspective.

I will not say how to do it, you have CSM and well versed FC's to do it.
I can only say why this needs to happen :

  1. timers of this kind affect RL. People investing time and money are left in a choice of drop it all or engage in few days long grind or defense that is utterly bad and bugged.
  2. Inability to login to defend your stuff, or opposite be part of attacking force even if you pre-positioned yourself to system/grid for 9 hours just proves how buggy the current situation is.
  3. Inability to predict if your actions will matter. You could do all correct, over prepare yet lose. Just because server bugs itself in specific way, or fact that mechanic forces you to lock multiple targets, while each lock takes sometime an hour, while enemy just need to do it once.
  4. Asset safety not working at all. Goal was to protect people who are away. They will be the most impacted as their stuff will be in some random ass lowsec station. If you are active - you can recover in the same system. (this one can be fixed easily, make push for lowsec a player decision, asset stay in system until player decides to push them to lowsec).

EvE is game with aging playerbase, whatever you do it needs to have less impact on the real life obligations

To be clear - timer starts in over a hour and will be active till DT at least.

It is just bunch of jumps from lowsec and easy to reach, but :

  • do not warp directly from gate to gate, smartbombs and drag bubbles are everywhere
  • the best ship is a nullified ceptor. Use T2 nulli if possible as gates are bubbled from both sides
  • your ship range need to be at least 6km to stay outside PDS range
  • when everything starts you can orbit the keep and just shoot it
  • don't bring expensive pod, if any. You will die ... or wish you would finally die.
  • commands will take probably 20 minutes to register. Lock (20 min wait) activate guns. So not spam your command. Witness the full power of CCP technology.
  • if you go now in system, log out on safe spot and wait for timer. Combat probes everywhere.

Is the tidi worth it?
No, but the slap for all the bad stuff FRT is doing in low is well deserved.
