I'm seeing so many comments from people chasing results with their transfers. The big one from last Match Day to this one is Oyarzabal. Did you drop him after he blanked in game one only to regret it in game two when he feasted? Clearly it was the wrong call in hindsight, but in actuality it was just the wrong call, period.
If we are building our teams based on favourable matchups, then we should trust that we have made the right call even if the players blank on the score sheet. And they will sometimes! Oyarzabal didn't overnight become a trash player, he just missed out in a weird game that no one expected to be a nil all draw.
For another example, it'd be tempting to chase after Jonathan David's amazing haul for Canada in Match Day 2 but looking at the upcoming matchup against Switzerland, logic says that it's not the best option.
This game has high randomness, and like in a game of poker sometimes making the "right" call just doesn't work out. But the best managers will come out on top if they make the right call the most often.
Trust the process. Make changes based on matchup and player usage/minutes, not results.
Given the controversy that has surfaced in [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/s/ZtZSKQdHy8) people may want to stop supporting boardgamegeek.com, the defacto chief database for board games on the internet.
What are the main alternatives? r/boardgames is a good example for the forum aspect, but what else is out there? Thinking in terms of cataloguing and databases, rules, community resources etc.
