A plumbing business scammed my single mother and i do not know what to do, we have no food now, we can not even review their business
My mom was having issues with the bathroom, as it was leaking from both the shower unit and the bath. The problem was that the water was coming through the ceiling. She contacted a company called AZ Plumbing, as she thought it was a local company in Liverpool. They advised that the call-out fee would be around £45.
Two men came and started removing the shower unit and the toilet. My mom told them to stop because she wanted to know what the problem was, what they were going to do to repair it, and how much it would cost. They said to leave it with them and that it would be fixed within 2–3 hours. She did not agree and said, "I want information about what is going on."
They became aggressive and spent about 30 minutes on the phone with the company before coming back and saying that if she did not want them to continue, they had already spent 1.5 hours there and it would cost £600 for labour, plus VAT and a 10% admin fee, which is crazy. The total came to £792.
They pressured her on the phone, saying that if payment was not made, they would leave the bathroom leaking worse than before and send debt collectors. My mom had to go to the cash point because they did not accept card payments, and I was left alone with those guys, who were smiling. It was insane.
She paid them, and they left. Afterwards, I found her crying because of the whole situation.
I later found out that the business is based in London, not Liverpool. It has only 22 reviews, and they appear to be a call center operating from overseas, scamming people. The worst part is that I cannot leave a review on their Google Maps page. The least I can do is let people know what is going on so they do not get scammed.
