[dubstep] Help I Died

I wanted to share the weird little history behind this track because it basically evolved like a science experiment that refused to die.

It started with a completely chaotic idea called “Help I Died” — just some nonsense vocal lines like “HELP I DIED” and “Nevermind I’m back.” At the time it was meant to be a joke concept for a dubstep-style AI track. I threw it into Suno back when it was around v3.5 with a prompt like “make a cool dubstep song with a lot of surprises.”

The result was honestly mid overall, but the intro had something interesting in it — that raw, glitchy energy that made me want to keep it.

So I pulled it into FL Studio and rebuilt it myself, turning it into a heavier, nastier dubstep-style version. It basically became a Frankenstein mix of AI ideas and human sound design.

Months later I revisited it out of curiosity and ran my version back through Suno (this time v4.5). That’s where things got kind of ridiculous — it actually understood what I was going for way better. It reinterpreted the structure and somehow made the drop hit way harder than expected.

After that, I took the improved AI output, blended it back into my FL version again, and refined it into a full track. At this point it stopped feeling like a joke project and started sounding like an actual EDM track with a consistent identity.

The final version is basically a loop of:
AI idea → human fix → AI enhancement → human refinement → accidental chaos becoming structure.

There are still remnants of the original randomness in there, but it’s now tied together with a proper drop, transitions, and that “Help I Died” vocal identity running through it.

It’s weird, but I kind of love that it evolved instead of being “finished” in one go.

for anyone curious, 0:28 is where the drop that i made kind of seaps in.

1 underrated LP Song from every album ranked

The ranking will be based on how underrated the song is, not how good it is.

Hybrid Theory: High Voltage
While it’s not anything like the rest of the album, it contains some of mikes best rapping and a very strong bridge from Chester, definitely a top 3 for hybrid theory.

Meteora: Nobody’s Listening
Once again, I feel like the same things going on for this one, while not in my top 3 for Meteora, this rarely gets praise.

Minutes To Midnight: Valentines Day
It’s a very gentle song when it comes to vocals, and I like the fact that the chorus is at the end and only said once, its a weird structure that doesnt get a lot of love

A Thousand Suns: Robot Boy
While DEFINITELY not my favorite song, this song has a ton of great qualities that no one really points out, the piano and drums alone are very strong.

Living Things: Skin To Bone
Underrated king right here. Easily one of their most experimental songs ever, and it works really well, easily the best Living Things song.

The Hunting Party: All For Nothing
While not as underrated as Skin To Bone, Similar things could be said here, its among my top 3 THP songs, and its nothing like the rest of the album, i also really appreciate Page Hamiltons feature.

One More Light: Halfway Right
While im not the most fond of this one, i feel like it’s never talked about, like, ever.

From Zero: Casualty
This one I feel like is the most hated, its basically a scream sesh for emily, but other than mikes GOD AWFUL verses (mike sounds like hes tryna scream), it’s not half bad!

Here are the top 5 ranked off of underrated-ness.
(I will also add a ratio of real fans to deserved fans, for example: 1:4 means for every 1 fan of this song, it deserves 4 fans.)

  1. Casualty (
  2. Valentines Day (
  3. Skin To Bone (
  4. All For Nothing (
  5. Nobody’s Listening (

WFTE Updated Opinion

After giving A Thousand Suns a much more thorough listen, I’ve changed my opinion on “Waiting For The End” a bit. I used to rate it around a 4/10, but now I’d honestly give it more of a 6/10.

The biggest reason for that change is Chester. His vocals on this track are genuinely great, especially during the “holding onto what I haven’t got” part. The emotional delivery there is really strong, and I can absolutely understand why people connect with it emotionally. It’s also a very clean and polished song overall.

That said, I still don’t personally feel like it represents what I go to Linkin Park for. Even within A Thousand Suns, I think there are several tracks that are significantly stronger and more impactful. For me, “When They Come For Me,” “The Catalyst,” and “Burning in the Skies” are all easily better songs.

My main disconnect is that I don’t understand why “Waiting For The End” is often treated like this untouchable, god-tier LP track. To me, it’s a good song — not a bad one at all anymore — but still just a good song. Outside of Chester’s performance, nothing else about it really stands out to me in a major way.

So overall: I respect the song more now, and I definitely underrated it before, but I still think the praise for it goes way beyond what the track itself delivers.

NOTE: THESE ARE MY OPINIONS- FEEL FREE TO COMMENT AND EXPLAIN YOUR THOUGHTS, BUT I AM ENTITLED TO THINKING WHAT I DO.
