Whirlpool Induction Stove Won't Function After Power Surge

Whirlpool induction cooktop won't turn on after power surge/outage. Looking for troubleshooting advice before calling for service.

The cooktop was working normally before a recent power surge/outage. Immediately afterward, it stopped functioning.

Brand is Whirlpool. I don't know the exact model number, but the glass surface says "Schott Ceran" in the bottom-left corner.

Current behavior:

  • A red light is illuminated on the lock button.
  • Pressing and holding the lock button (as you normally would to unlock it) does not produce any response.
  • After cycling power at the breaker, the bottom-left burner display briefly shows:
    • 3
    • then 0
    • then 9
  • After that sequence, it returns to a steady state with only the lock indicator illuminated.

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Turned the dedicated breaker OFF and back ON multiple times.
  • Left the breaker OFF for 15+ minutes before restoring power.
  • Repeated the power-cycle process several times.
  • Pressed all buttons on the control panel individually.
  • Tried various button combinations.
  • Tried placing cookware on the cooktop while attempting to activate burners.
  • Repeated all of the above after the extended power-off period.

Video attached showing the startup sequence after restoring power.

Has anyone seen this specific behavior before? Does the 3 → 0 → 9 sequence indicate a fault code, failed control board, surge damage, child-lock issue, or a reset/service procedure that I should try before arranging a repair?
