When Rue was on the phone with her mom and said she’s going to come back home soon, it immediately reminded me of the end scene in Requiem for a Dream. He knew he was never coming home to Marion, and I have a sinking feeling that Rue knows she also is never making it back home.
I’ve seen a lot of comparisons in the Nate/Maddie/Cassie problems to multiple couples and friendships in VPR. I haven’t seen any comparisons in Jax to Rue, or maybe I’m unaware. It didn’t hit until this most recent episode where when Rue is faced with her demise, she immediately throws a friend under the bus to save herself. Remind you of anyone?
Other examples:
- Rue only confessing Cassie & Nate’s secret because she was backed into a corner and needed to deflect.
- Rue constantly running back to a failed relationship while hooking up with others.
- I know this last one is a stretch, but dare I say lying about a job
I know there are plenty of other comparisons, these were just first thoughts
Obviously these are just examples of narcissistic behavior (not diagnosing anyone), but it’s just funny to see comparisons in this way across TV
The Jax Taylor and his cardigan resemblance while delivering a Tom Sandoval diss in 2026 is truly perfect
After this most recent episode, I have a sinking feeling Corey Cott is going to get a Mike Dodds ending. He obviously knows his dad wasn’t the straight shooter he grew up thinking he was. I feel like he’s going to die in the process of exposing his father to defend Benson and her job, probably by cops Tynan also has secrets against. I’m assuming her Benson witch-hunt is because she knows how competent and curious of a detective she is (trying to sever the last loose end?) but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a more personal connection later to be revealed. As a watcher who has probably seen every episode at least thrice, introducing a new detective who Benson is originally suspicious of feels like the perfect set-up for a tragic redemption finale💔
I’m dying to know other finale theories
Also, loved Peter coming back to grill Mariska!
