Kimpton Tres Ríos All Inclusive Review
Stayed at 5 Kimptons around the world and am a huge fan but did not have the best experience here and will likely not come back. It is our first time at an AI and was expecting more but maybe all AIs are like this and we were just hoping for more. Paid $350/night for two as intro rate but would be even more disappointed with the higher rates now.
The Good
-Staff was genuinely phenomenal, everyone was overly friendly and polite. Always eager to offer more and it wasn’t like they were out hunting for tips
-Platinum elite and first time ever receiving a welcome gift anywhere in the world
-Rooms were large with high ceiling and balcony a nice space
-Evening fire show was really neat experience
-Resort was cosy and not too big so easy to access everywhere
The Not So Good
-Food was very mediocre, which to be fair the economics of AI is tough but maybe wrong to expect more from a Kimpton. Fish at the Japanese restaurant didnt taste like anything. Only half decent meal was the Mexican resistant that opens for dinner and the omelette at breakfast.
-Coffee at the cafe were Nespresso pods, wished they had actual beans and machines
-New hotel but already rough around the edges. Many common areas look unfinished / under construction and there wasn’t a single toilet in the complex including the room that worked well. It was like they decided to keep all the old ones from before.
-Personal preference, should have gone to a resort with a beach view, Mongroves didn’t do a whole lot for us. There was a small beach but definitely not the main attraction, looks like they’re building an oceanfront wing still.
-Took 45 mins to check in and there were hardly any guests to begin with.
