Only way the little guy likes the be held, is it alright?

I’m barley have a grip on him, hence him completely melting in my fingers😆 I just want to make sure it’s alright to hold him like this since it’s literally the only way he likes to be held.

PS: sorry for flashing his balls😓for a little guy they pretty much flash you constantly

Can someone tell me if this is normal?

Every morning I wake up, and he’s laying out in the most random way spots like under his wheel, in his sand bath, or literally now he’s obessed with laying in the corner of his enclosure that has about 4 inches of coconut substrate that he has now mixed his bedding with…I’m a first time owner and I’m not sure if this is something health related or if he just likes our company, he burrows throughout the day and night and we rarely see him. So seeing him out in the mornings like this is odd, he doesn’t like to be held but loves being pet when he’s laying like this.

Please any answers would be appreciated! I just got him a few weeks ago and would be heart broken if there was something wrong

Can someone tell me what he’s doing?

This was before we replaced the bedding with paper, but this is the corner where we have his coconut substrate, I’m just curious in what exactly he’s doing? He filled the entire hideout with dirt and bedding and then went and burrowed somewhere else.

How do I know my hammys age?

I originally was looking to adopt a hammy but after stopping at the local pet store a few weeks ago and seeing him in a small enclosure with barely anything in it I knew I had to get him. The workers weren’t very informative and said they weren’t even sure of his gender when I asked specifically for a male. But that’s beside the point.

I just need to know if there’s anything I can do tell my hammys age, I would guess he’s pretty young but he’s also a dwarf hamster so he’s naturally small.

Freddie this morning😌

I think he’s still adjusting to whatever sleep schedule he has, he was awake before I went to sleep last night and even awake when k was up this morning😩❤️ gave him a little piece of lettuce and he was laying with his head sticking out for pets❤️

Boy or girl😭 I’m starting to question

He only lets me hold him like this for about 3 seconds, which I don’t blame him, but I’m starting to question if he’s actually a male or if he’s a female.
I know the pic is blurry but it’s the best I can do since he’s not the one to be held

First time owner: I just have questions

So before I had adopted Freddie I had done research and seen that hamster owners aren’t using the enclosures that are advertised for hamsters. Therefore I did not buy one of the hamster cages that were on display at the local pet store he was at. He was in a very small enclosure with about 2-3 inches of bedding at most, with a wheel and a plastic hideout.
Since he’s been with me I’ve had him in a giant clear tote bin that has 5-6 inches of bedding with at least 4 different ceramic or woven hides, along with a sand bath, coconut substrate bath, and then his wheel..but I’ve been looking for a decent size tank for his forever enclosure.
I did some research and seen that’s it’s preferred to have a 40 gallon tank but I’m just curious on just how big a tank would need to be for a dwarf hamster, being that he’s very small he seems to not like the big space in the tote and prefers the 10 gallon I also have that I had set up for him the first night he was as brought home.

I guess what I’m asking experienced owners is that if a 10 gallon will stress out my hammy, I’m actively looking for bigger tanks so I know it’s not preferred for it to be his forever enclosure, but I’m also curious if it’s alright for it to be if that’s what he seems to like.

Any feedback helps! Negative or positive I just want my hammy to live a good life ❤️🙏🏻

Just a question about my hammys diet.

I’m just wondering if it’s normal for my hammy to perfer black sunflower seeds from the rest of his seed mix? He has other sorts of protein but only likes the meal worms.

I just would like some better advice for feeding him, he gets fresh fruits that are safe for him once a week since I’m worried him eating so many seeds will affect his weight

Just want to make sure my hammy is alright

Is my hamster okay? I got him at local pet store after seeing he was being homed in a small space with 2-3 other hamsters, they said they aren’t sure of his gender but he might be a male, he looks like one according to the research I have done. His enclosure is temporary but he has 7+ inches of mixed bedding and he has all the essentials, Im currently looking for a tank that’s a decent sizing to my liking. I planned on adopting a teddy bear hamster but i ultimately fell for this little guy while at the pet store for supplies. He was sharing a tiny enclosure with another hamster, and I had done research that you can’t home hamsters together.
He’s a robo hamster I’m pretty sure, but his sleeping and awake schedule is weird and sometimes he will lay under his wheel or just out in the open on the bedding or sandbath, I’ve had him 2 weeks so I’m unsure if he’s just still adjusting or if he’s just acting normal.
I make sure the temperature is around 65-70 at all times and he takes treats and food from my hands, just is still not sure about handling.

Any help is appreciated, I’m a first time owner but I’ve done extreme research and just want to make sure I can make my hammys life the best possible.
