40m, EST. Seeks general nerdery, geeky sundry, and potential long term friends
Hello! I am a 40m in the eastern US who works from home and spends a big chunk of my day in meetings. You can be whatever, male, female, or anything inbetween. I'm married and only looking for friendship, so whatever you've got in your pants doesn't matter much to me. I’d like to make some new online friends to chat with over the course of the workday, sometimes I’m quasi available in the evenings, but usually spend that time on personal crafting / gaming pursuits or with my awesome wife. I have a varied set of hobbies, but they definitely lean towards the geeky. I’ve got a list of things about me below.
Ideally, I’d like to chat on discord. Reddit chat is great for meeting folks but in general it’s kinda jank. I’d also like to meet folks who aren’t going to evaporate after a day or two of chatting. Meeting fleeting new folks is fine and all, but I’m more of a quality over quantity type of guy.
- Video games. Lately I’ve been playing the Enshrouded combat update with friends, but I think we’re all starting to feel drawn to Windrose. Recently started playing Terarria with another group of friends. Outside of social gaming I’ve been bouncing around between Mewgenics, Slay the Spire 2, and Cult of the Lamb. I generally really like management, base building, and RPG type games, but I’ll give most things a try. Persona 3 and Subnautica 2 are glaring at me from the near horizon.
- Board games / TTRPGs. Regularly get together with friends to play board games like Wingspan, Clank!, The Captain is Dead, Pandemic, Camel Up, and more. I also have been running a homebrewed world dnd game for about 2 years at this point. If you’re a DM or a player, I’d love to be able to bounce ideas off you. (Or hear about your campaign)
- Artsy crafts. I paint miniatures, make dice, I doodle rorschach-esque shape things, make them pretty colors, and ask people what they see. Lately I've been messing around with paint pouring. Sometimes I also build pieces of furniture. Recently, I finished building and painting a model of Renmazou from Xenogears (which happens to be my favorite game ever). I also love story telling as a concept and have written two and a half full length fantasy novels in my own world.
- Big music fan. My tastes tend to change a bit with the seasons. Been listening to tons of Synth Mage, Vin Jay, and some Connor Price. Saw TWRP play late last year (do recommend, they put on an amazing show). Recently saw a symphony play the music from Jurassic Park while also screening the movie. Not long after that I went to a show w/ both Dance with the Dead and Magic Sword. Show was epic.
- Huge anime fan. I try to get like 30-45 minutes of cardio in a day, and pretty much exclusively fill that time with anime. Currently watching the newest seasons of: Classroom of the Elite, Wand and Wistoria, Doctor Stone, Witch Hat Atelier, and JJK Season 3. If it’s got mecha, you’ve got my interest.
- Generally big reader / into fantasy. New Dungeon Crawler Carl book dropped today and I am excited to start reading it!
