Question about Frequent decaf as I know they are active here…

I’ve been, like many, into home specialty coffee for about 8 or 9 years now. In the past couple of months I decided to end my days with drinking a nice decaf before bed. Caffeine before bed doesn’t affect me, I just wanted to enjoy specialty decaf. My first few bags were from Broadsheet and imho were on par with some very finer light roasts from around the world. I was shocked. Fast forward. The instagram advertising got me and I came to this sub and saw nothing but praise for Frequent. I ordered a bag of Pink Bourbon Thermal Shock and the Red Bourbon Wilton Benitez. I gave them 2 weeks off roast and they both startled me. The thermal shock has a very bright, sitting on the top of the flavors strong “sweetness”. It almost tastes fake? The red bourbon, the label notes cola, so I expected some pop or fizz and it delivers that. My question is, is there propylene glycol used in either stages of these beans fermentation process? The way these flavors layer up and present has me curious.

Anyone have Ting fiber installed recently?

Their work and the subsequent AT&T fiber has long been in our neighborhood now and seems like good chunks of Memphis areas have been installed for a minute as well. I’m really wanting to move on from Comcast and I read all different kinds of install and customer service stories about Ting so I thought I’d ask a local. Feels like I have a better chance knowing what local install techs are like and how it’s going. Up vs down time etc. One of us works form home so internet is a must without worrying about new install flakiness etc. TIA.

Never seen a city so fascinated with backing into parking spots…

I’ve lived in 5 major metropolis’ over the last 30 years and Memphis by far loves to back into their parking spots. I get it and don’t. Just an observation…

Is blends going to be the next big trend?

Was listening to the “It’s Just Coffee” podcast today with guest Elysia Tan (Multi time brew champion) and she feels like blends are making their way back as the next big thing to really control taste and aromas in the very near future. She elaborated plenty about growing seasons, varietals etc but it’s what she felt was coming and in my Kurasu Partner roast this month I indeed got my first blend, almost unexpectedly.

Just sharing for the love of coffee, the community takes, not fighting etc lol wanted to hear thoughts.

Is this scale or heat marks in kettle?

Fellow Stagg Kettle. Won’t wash out, I assume this is heat tinting. Would baking soda paste or barkeepers friend be the go here?

Might be a bizarre question, but...

I have a bag of this, unopened, roasted two weeks ago. Its not my vibe.
I would love to get it to someone who would appreciate it.
Curious if anyone has something unopened theyd like to trade? (is that cool to ask here? if not, no harm.)

What’s going on with USPS in Memphis?!

Normal package purchases deliveries arrive usually when stated or a day or two at most. I have two different packages from different parts of the country, one was here and went to North Carolina and another has languished for two extra weeks. I filed missing mail on the second one and it’s still supposedly being delivered to the original address.

I know the current presidential admin is doing some interesting things nationally with usps but is Memphis mail sinking more into Memphis fast food service quality?

What’s your favorite vibe or…

zen, chill, peaceful, tranquil spot in Memphis and the greater area, Shelby County etc? Like a park, a street, a drive, restaurant/coffee shop etc.

There’s tons of gorgeous, relaxing, wonderful places around town I’ve got mine and was curious about what others like and find.

10 days off roast isn’t enough…

First bag of my subscription to Black and White. Have bought singles from them before and they made sure to mention that even though it was roasted on May 5th, give it a couple weeks. I’m not mad, it’s my fault for waiting 11 days, but I feel like it needs closer to 3 maybe 4 weeks. My normal first cup and then second dial in move, where both not good, like not even in the ballpark like every other washed I’ve brewed.

Anyone else have this roast, what’s your move on waiting? Just talking with fellow nerds here, consensus etc.

Your preferred filter for Origami Air S?

I’m currently using Abaca 01 and have some XBloom flat bottom. I use the Baca about 6 to 1 over the XBloom, but I’m still only two months in with the Origami and just curious what tothere benefit from?

The food was excellent. Tiramisu? Top tier. Someone mentioned this a while back when I asked who had the best. We celebrated our anniversary and man. Best I’ve had in Memphis. Best I’ve had in a long, lonnnnggg time. Had some recently in NYC and Los Angeles. Didn’t touch this.
