How come bluetooth audio is so quiet?

I have to use a 3rd party app to raise the volume to get it to a decent level, otherwise my earbuds are really not very loud at all.

Any known fix?

Trying to decide if the extra cost is worth it. I can get the Automatic for $1000, or the quartz version for $600.

Worth the difference in price? Just the sleek no date dial is kind of swaying me... the only thing that puts me off is the servicing cost, but not sure if that should put me off entirely.
