Provo Charges Officially Dismissed

The disorderly conduct and trespassing charges against "Reckless" Ben Schneider from BAM Headquarters in Provo were officially dismissed today at the request of the Provo City attorney. They were dismissed without prejudice. The judge signed the order today just before 11 a.m. There was a hearing scheduled for tomorrow in the case.

This was the case in which Provo police received a broad search warrant for Schneider's Google account.

The next hearing in any case will be September 30 for the cases out of American Fork. The hearing is in person, and the prosecution expects to call witnesses. A producer for Law & Crime told me they plan to send someone to cover that hearing. I will try to confirm, and look into covering it myself if they don't make it.

I will also look into whether the dismissal of the case will make available any documents that were previously denied because of the active adjudication.

You can see the documents in the cases at https://chrisreportsthings.com

Another Note: The is another thing that I think is significant, but haven't had time to do full reporting on. The Bricks & Minifigs store in Wilmington, NC that was the subject of a story about the cat getting a Lego wheelchair is owned by the former news director of the station that ran that story.

I spoke to the reporter. She told me she was given the story by the current news director of her station, who is still a close friend of the previous news director and store owner. I have not yet heard back from the current news director. And I have not had time yet to reach out to Gray Media to see if this would violate any of their newsroom policies. The Gray Media affiliation helped the story travel much further than its local market.

I also spoke to the rescue that had the cat. They said they had no personal relationship, but had heard about the same store doing it before for another cat. They said the wheelchair was helpful, but that Rex would be getting a 3D printed one when he outgrew it.

I have not found any evidence that this was coordinated with BAM Franchising or its PR team, beyond the timing. A local owner who had worked in news would know how to get things covered on the news in a small market.

How did you find out about 9/11 if you were in the TTI that day 25 years ago?

A question I’m curious about because they did their best to keep us in the dark about everything happening in the outside world as a general rule of thumb - at least in my experience.

Weird open ended survivor question: how do you guys process everything?

All of us went through some insanely unthinkable horrible TTI things. What do you do or not do be able to make peace with this? Sometimes when I think I’ve conquered certain fears or memories, new ones come up that I didn’t expect. Anyway, just sending love, gratitude, and hugs out to everybody - most specifically survivors (so many snarky staff/program comments here…😅) I hope everyone is having a good Friday and has a great weekend. ♥️
