Dead PSU?
components:
ryzen 9 5900x
Radeon RX6750xt
t-force ddr4 3200mhz x 64GB
b550 gigabyte aorus pro v2
EVGA G5 Supernova 850watt
hey folks, suspected dead PSU here, was hoping someone could provide some input.
Started work this morning (CAD drafting) only to find an unresponsive PC.
prior to testing this, I checked RAM, cleared CMOS, tested 8 pin CPU power all with no success. finally tried this method to test the PSU, and here’s what I have. the internal relay is kicking on, and there is clearly 120v coming from the wall as the EVGA logo illuminates, and when the 24 pin WAS plugged into the mobo it would illuminate the lighting on the AIO pump as well. I would just get a short little “pump” of power, enough to make the fans twitch, but nothing else.
any input would be appreciated. This PSU has only been in the PC for a year, and is a replacement unit for another G5 Supernova that I had to RMA as that one died within about 2 years. For context this pc runs anywhere from 8-16 hours a day, 5 days a week, and is fully shut down every night.
my personal computer has a similar PSU, the g5 supernova, but the 750 watt variant, and it’s been going strong for 5 years with much heavier use, similar hardware, and shows no signs of slowing. Not sure why these 850’s aren’t playing nice with me.
