Need a light, funny audiobook to escape into

Hey fellow listeners!

I’m really in need of a calming, easy-to-follow audiobook right now. I’ve got a lot of stress going on in my personal life, and I’m desperately looking for something I can disappear into for a while.

I’d love something that’s engaging enough to actually hold my attention, but not stressful to listen to. No thrillers, suspense, murder, crime, cops, or anything where I’m constantly waiting for something terrible to happen.

Funny and light is ideal. (maybe something older so its more likely available to borrow on libby.

Thanks for any suggestions.

FOLLOW-UP. Thank you all so much for the quick recommendations! I think some of these will really hit the distraction I need.

Cheapest insurance for Japan’s 6-month Digital Nomad visa?

I’m planning to apply for Japan’s Digital Nomad visa and stay for the full 6 months.

One of the requirements is insurance covering death, injury, and illness for the entire stay, with at least ¥10 million in medical treatment coverage. That’s roughly $63,000 USD at the current exchange rate.

For anyone who has actually gotten the Japanese Digital Nomad visa, what insurance did you use? (or something similar in another country)

I’m mainly looking for the cheapest option that still meets the visa requirements and provides the documentation Japan wants for the application. I don’t need anything fancy beyond what’s necessary to qualify.

If you did a full 6-month stay, I’d especially appreciate knowing:

  • Which company/policy you used
  • Roughly what you paid for the 6 months
  • Whether Japan accepted the insurance documentation without any issues

Thanks for any recommendations!

Cheapest dedicated Wi-Fi option for a Nest like camera in a storage unit?

I recently got a fairly large storage unit that has its own power, and I’d like to set up a cheap Nest-like camera inside.

There’s a decent problem at the facility with people trying to sleep in units overnight, and apparently it’s not unheard of for people to climb into other units. So I’d like to have a camera running mainly for security and peace of mind.

My biggest issue is internet. I really don’t need normal home internet in the unit, just enough of a connection to keep one Nest camera online.

Does something like a cheap, dedicated Wi-Fi/hotspot plan for security cameras exist? Ideally I’m looking for the lowest-cost monthly option that would still be reliable enough for a Nest like camera.

Anyone doing something similar or have recommendations?

Thanks for any help!!!!

Help getting a free Golden Tee Fore! / Silver Strike cabinet running again.

A couple of years ago, I was given this Golden Tee Fore! cabinet for free. I’ve included a bunch of photos of the inside and outside.

There is some cosmetic damage, but most of it looks like it should be fairly easy to fix up. It is also missing a few buttons.

It appears the machine was modified to also include Silver Strike Bowling. I have the manuals for both Golden Tee and Silver Strike, along with the instructions for the modification.

The inside looks like quite a mess, and I honestly don’t know enough about arcade cabinets to tell what is missing, disconnected, or damaged. The CRT monitor does appear to work. When I plug the cabinet in, the screen turns on and flashes “No Signal.”

I’m thinking about getting it fixed up, but I have no idea what the repair costs might look like or what an arcade technician would charge to work on something like this.

Based on the photos, does anything stand out as an obvious problem a technician will face?

Any advice on where to start, what parts to check, or what I should expect to spend would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Trusted seller that accepts PayPal, Wise, or other payment platforms?

Hello Repjerseyss!
I’ve looked through the trusted-seller list, but my main hesitation is entering my credit card information directly into one of these websites.

Does anyone have a seller they’ve personally ordered from recently who accepts PayPal, Wise, or another external payment method? I’d also be fine ordering through WhatsApp and having the seller send me a PayPal request or invoice.

Thanks for any help on this!

Switching from OST + Quick Bid to BuzzBid. Questions about the transition and Buzzbid in general.

I’m starting with a new employer that uses BuzzBid, and I’ll be switching over from OST + Quick Bid.

Most of the estimating work is Division 9, 05400, and 06100.

For anyone who has made the same switch, how easy was the transition? Suggestions for my approach?

Also, are there any drawbacks, limitations, or quirks with BuzzBid that I should look out for?

Would appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience with it, especially if you came from OST and Quick Bid.

I designed a houseplant-themed deck of playing cards. I'd love your feedback!

I wanted to share a deck I've created and get some feedback from fellow playing card enthusiasts.

It's a houseplant-themed deck where every card features a different houseplant with both the common and scientific name. The suits are divided into four plant categories: leafy, hanging, flowering, and succulents. The artwork was digitally illustrated and hand-painted by an artist I've built a great working relationship with over the past few years. Box is also embossed, though its hard to see in the images.

So far I've only sold my decks wholesale to retail shops, mostly in 12-deck display boxes. I've also created a few home town themed decks, a mushroom deck, and my Endangered Species of North America deck is currently in manufacturing. (a few others in various stages of design)

I'm starting to think about launching a Kickstarter/crowdfunding, but before I do I'd really like to hear what this community thinks, because changes can be made.

What do you like? What would you change? (I already have a couple things I want to change for the next printing such as brightening the reds, increasing the number and pip size, and tone down the green swipe banner.) Does anything stand out, good or bad? And if you came across this on Kickstarter, would it be something you'd consider backing?

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. I really appreciate any feedback.

Also, If you want to pay shipping, I'll send out 10 free decks do any commenters that want one. (preferably domestic to the US).

Missouri “Prior Salvage” title + Progressive full coverage. Should they be reducing actual cash value payout? (way more info in post)

I’m in Missouri and trying to understand whether my insurance company is handling my claim correctly.

My vehicle previously had a salvage title. Back in 2017, I went through the Missouri process to have it Post repair inspected/re-titled after repairs (DOR-108, DOR-551 and a few misc paperwork items). Missouri issued the title as “Prior Salvage Motor Vehicle.” When I spoke with the Missouri DMV, they told me that “Prior Salvage” is the cleanest/highest title status Missouri gives to a vehicle that was previously salvage. In other words, it cannot go back to a completely clean title, but it has been through the required process and is no longer just a salvage title.

I have Progressive and had what I understand to be full coverage, including comprehensive/collision. I do not remember ever being told that the vehicle would be insured differently or that I would not receive full actual cash value in a total-loss claim because of the Missouri “Prior Salvage” brand.

I was recently in a no-fault accident. During the call where the Progressive agent gave me the vehicle valuation, he said the valuation was based on the car having a salvage title. He also said that if I had completed certain steps to have the vehicle inspected and retitled, then I could receive the full actual cash value. However, those are the exact steps I already completed in Missouri to obtain the “Prior Salvage Motor Vehicle” title.

Progressive is now telling me I will not receive the full actual cash value because the title still says “Prior Salvage Motor Vehicle.” My understanding is that I did complete the retitling process they described, and I have the supporting documents showing that process was completed. The issue appears to be that Missouri still prints “Prior Salvage Motor Vehicle” on the title because that is the highest title status Missouri gives to a vehicle that was previously salvage; it does not convert the vehicle back to a completely clean title.

My questions are:

  1. Is Progressive correct to treat a Missouri “Prior Salvage Motor Vehicle” title as reducing the actual cash value to salvaged, even if the car was properly inspected and re-titled?
  2. Is there anything specific I should look for in my Progressive policy paperwork, declarations page, endorsements, exclusions, or underwriting documents that would show the vehicle was insured as a branded/prior-salvage vehicle?
  3. If my declarations page shows comprehensive/collision coverage, but does not clearly say my payout would be reduced because of prior salvage title history, is that normal?
  4. Is this just how actual cash value works for branded-title vehicles, or is there any argument that I was not properly informed when paying for “full coverage”?
  5. What documents should I request from Progressive to confirm how they classified the vehicle when they issued the policy?

I’m not trying to claim the car is the same as a never-salvaged vehicle. I’m trying to understand whether Progressive is allowed to sell me comprehensive/collision coverage for without documenting that the “Prior Salvage” title would reduce my payout, especially when Missouri told me that “Prior Salvage” is the highest/cleanest status available for a previously salvaged vehicle.

Any advice on what policy language to look for, what documents to request, or how to dispute the valuation would be appreciated. Thank you!

Parking when using FIFA Airport Direct ConnectKC26 bus?

I received a KC26 Connect pass to get to and from the airport for my shifts. The pickup point is ConnectKC26 Bus Mall, 2644 Warwick Trafficway, which is a parking lot near the fan fest.
Can we park there to take the bus, or are we expected to find someone to drop us off.
I have look throughout the site and can’t seem to find any information on this.

Thanks for any info if you have it!

Can I use KALLSUP as a wired speaker instead of bluetooth?

Does anyone know if the little KALLSUP speaker can be used as a connected input instead of bluetooth?
As in, can I use the USB-c to plug into my computer and have it stay charged and receive wired sound instead of bluetooth?
Thanks!
