Ll torque for big guy

6’4 220lbs naked, probably 235-240 with gear, weight is around my beer belly. Hit the gym couple times a week

I started with an alpha 90 and I did not like it. Felt unstable and all it wanted to do was turn up river…quickly. It almost turned me off of ww kayaking completely so I bought the biggest, most stable boat I could find, a ll xp10.

It’s kind of a school bus going down the river but I’ve enjoyed it. Typical rivers are class 2/3 with a smidge of 4 tossed in. I don’t plan to go bigger. South fork American, Truckee, Merced, all west coast based.

My roll is 10/10 when I want to roll, when I’m unexpectedly flipped over it’s probably 7/10. I can roll either direction, c to c, sweep. Cannot hand roll if my life depends on it.

I want a boat that I can play in the river and the torque seems to check the boxes. Stable, yet playful, easy to roll. Would it be a bad choice? I was looking at a gnarvana and a rmx96 but I feel like I might outgrow them quickly. With boats being as expensive as they are I’d like to not spend several thousands of dollars to find the right boat

Thanks homies

Anyone swimming across Tahoe?

I’m not brave enough or even remotely fit enough, but I’d love to paddle a couple miles and cheer anyone who is…

I know about the trans Tahoe relay but it’s only north lake. I was hoping to paddle out of south lake for the final stretch or something.

I’m a class iv whitewater kayaker with multiple kayaks willing to help!

Next kayak for a big guy

West coast based, mostly running south fork of the American and the Truckee River. So class 2/3, with a splash of 4 tossed in.

6’4 240lbs with gear, losing a couple pounds each month. I should be 220 with gear by the end of summer.

I’m currently using a liquid logic xp10 and I’m looking for something a little more fun. The xp10 is very stable and I like that, relatively easy to roll, it just doesn’t maneuver in rapids very easily and I tend to just go straight and run everything over when in class 3+ rapids.

I enjoy ripping into eddies, dropping into holes, probably all the same stuff everyone else enjoys. I just want a boat that wants to play in the water more than just run everything over

Thoughts?
