Highway 80 construction on a holiday weekend

Whoever allowed a lane closure on a 2 lane highway on a Sunday after the biggest holiday of the year… straight to jail.

Turning my 2.5 hour drive into a 5 hour drive, is very wild.

What’s the deal with the Hyatt Pier in Incline Village?

From my understanding it is a public pier. But the Hyatt has blocked all beach access so there is no public path to the pier. So, it can’t function as a public pier.

Has it always been like this? Today, I was yelled at by 10 angry dudes when trying to drop someone off and was told by they’d be arrested if they were dropped off and exited through the only possible path. Why is it even public then?

Have the types of vacationers changed?

Question for the locals and or the people who have been vacationing here for decades.

I’m in town for the 4th, and there are hundreds of high school / college age kids around the Kings beach area, and I don’t ever recall the area being this big of a scene for massive groups of young people.

Has the summer crowd changed? I feel like it used to be more families in town for the summer.

I live in Reno but wondering how busy truckee/north lake is on the 5th

I am not stepping foot up there on the 4th, but I would love to see some of the festivities on Sunday.

Are things open later than normal and is it still overly? Minus maybe 50,000 people 😂

That’s what I’m hoping for tops appreciated

Some fun shots from an elopement in Tahoe

If anyone needed some inspo, we spent the whole day wandering around the lake. Scrambled some rocks at sand harbor, walked through a meadow near the palisades…it was a good day. Mix of digital and film

Truckee/North Tahoe July 4th Daytime Spot To Hang Out

We are staying in Truckee and just found out that Donner Lake is open only to Truckee residents so we are trying to figure out a spot to hang out during the day to catch the sun, jump in the water. I heard that Kings Beach is going to be crazy crowded to try and get in and out of. Are there public docks we can hang out at. Don't want to drive too far and get stuck in traffic. Fireworksare NOT a priority but hanging out and chilling is !

Yoda to The Grove and back to feel worthy of the natural beauty (and less lazy). Folks are so lucky being here year round.

Bear question

I have reservations at Fallen Leaf campground and I’m wondering if me having clean clothes on will attract bears? My stuff was washed with regular scented laundry soap.

I’m sleeping in a tent so I’m kinda worried about attracting bears .

Let me know

PSA to all those worried about bears

Bears aren’t real have you ever even seen one?

/s

In all seriousness just use bear canisters/boxes when camping and don’t give any bear a reason to be threatened by you.

You don’t need and should not carry a weapon or bear spray with you in Tahoe, if you’re that afraid of bears then just don’t bother coming
