Asshole Sailor and his girlfriend at Meeks Bay Resort
Context: My partner and I were anchored up on a paddleboard floating in one spot and this asshole sailor crashed into us and didn’t even care and totally ignored us after the crash.
Our paddleboard was anchored up and we’ve been staying in one spot by the swimming buoy on Meeks Bay Resort we spotted the sailboat and they see us too! a little awhile after however the sailboat operator was parking pretty near us and I didn’t realize until it was too late that my paddleboard was getting sucked into its rocking motion.
The sailboat operator didn’t even raise awareness or let us know and was pretty much silent the whole time while I was frantic with getting out of the collision. We did collide but thankfully I have good balance and didn’t tip over. A shout or a heads up would’ve helped a lot which him or his girlfriend did not care to do??? My partner had to dive down quickly to unleash the anchor that was in between a rock holding our Paddleboard afloat in a spot.
Accidents happen however this asshole sailor was such an asshole! Pretty much ignored us and when we politely confronted him all he said was that he wanted to park closer so his girlfriend can paddleboard to shore to get home and come back quickly and that we shouldve been in the swimming area.
There’s tons of paddleboard, kayaks and swimmers around - we were just a little bit past the swimming buoy as a lot of swimmers like to swim to the buoy and even then as a paddleboard we have the same rights to be past the swimming buoy anyways.
Whole situation was infuriating, it was my first collision and it was terrifying and with these 2 people totally disregarding the situation and not caring how me and my partner were after crash was frustrating because they pretty much prioritized their objective while endangering my life and my partner’s life and not even bother on checking up on us after the collision.
Sucks that there are assholes with no regard for other humans and hope karma gets them back tenfold.
Please don’t be these assholes and do better…. Accidents happen and we should treat each other with kindness and respect.
