I think I've decided on Tales of Argosa

Earlier this week, I debated on using ToA or WWN, and while I'm still a little unsure, I do think ToA fits my imagined setting better.

The general idea is that a supernatural apocalypse occurs merging several worlds together, introducing fantasy creatures and magic into our world. Naturally, that doesn't go to well, and after a bit, the modern world sort of falls to ruin, partially because now magic weilding elves are fighting for land, but also, nuking dragons doesn't end well. A few hundred years after the fall of the modern world is when my setting takes place. Everything has regressed to a medieval style of living it's the new dark ages. Guns in some form still exist, although they are rare, and the knowledge of how to make them is a closely guarded secret to the rare individual who knows how to construct one.

I have more ideas detailed as I've been working on this setting off and on for a while but was unsure of what system would be the best fit.

All of this is a byproduct of you guys giving me solid advice on both systems.

Tales of Argosa vs Worlds Without Number

I've been interested in both systems but haven't had a chance to bring either to the table. As far as I can tell, both systems seek to provide a similar style of play.

Why should I choose one over another? Which has more survivable characters? Which system do you feel is easier to homebrew for?

I just recently gave wwn a real read through and found the system pretty simple. I'm starting to work my way through argosa to get a better feel for it.

I think I want my next game to be one of these systems, so I'd appreciate input.

Tips for running urban campaigns

I'm currently running a Tmnt inspired game, but I don't have any experience running strictly urban campaigns infact this is the first campaign I've run that's not strictly fantasy.

I'm finding it hard to keep up the momentum of the story while providing them with multiple options to pursue.im struggling with how to put new missions in front of them that that they would care about. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

At this point, the party has met, and they have had two run ins with a gang that was smuggling alien tech.

Building my home setting tmnt meets power rangers.

I know savage tokusatsu and big apple sewer samurai exist, but I'm working on a home setting that will include both. So I'm trying to balance them with each other. Now, would you say power rangers would be power level 1 or 2 in the superheroes companion?

Thoughts on turning cwn into a tmnt style game?

Just like the title says. I've been wanting to play this style game, and I feel like a cyberpunk game would have a very similar structure.

Is there any useful guidance for making origin foci so I could make a bunch of mutant origins for a rolltable.

Anyone got advice to gm new to the system?

I ran my first session. It was part session 0 and part introducing the players. I introduced them via combat encounter, and it to me felt a bit like a slog.

Are there any good resources to reduce checking the book?

Generally, my table was leaning positive towards the system, but I know I have a ways to go to learn the system.

TMNT × CYBERPUNK

Do you guys think I should use the superpowers' companion or just core?

To start, I'm asking my players what they want to play and then creating their ancestory from scratch. I'm just undecided on using core or power level 1 superpowers.

An idea for encouraging players to play the more common kin.

So I'm about to start a new dragonbane campaign in a week. I have the core book and bestiary and want to limit kin selection without being too restrictive, so here's what I think I'm going to do for anyone who's interested.

First off, I'm modifying the did you participate in the session advancement. Players will only get this extra advancement mark if they choose a Kin from the core rulebook or roll on the kin table in the bestiary and take the result.

Players can still freely choose anything, but they will be ineligible for the participation advancement. This encourages players to play the kin that is most common in the setting while not being too restrictive for players who want to just play a specific thing.

Why choose SWADE for fantasy?

I'm just curious why someone would choose savage worlds over other systems that do fantasy. I'm looking at swade because it seems more tactical than some other systems, and I like that in my combats, so they aren't boring.

Right now, my group is looking at using SWADE or Vagabond for the next campaign. I'm leaning towards SWADE, but my group is leaning towards Vagabond.

Edit*

Thanks for all your opinions, and I'll read more if they come. I've definitively decided to run SWADE and FC for my next campaign

Tips for running swade for the first time.

I'm looking at swade for my next campaign. I bought into swade a while back and own the core book, fantasy, superheroes companions, and deadlands.

I'm curious how I should structure an "adventuring day" in swade. Things I should keep in mind since I've mostly run dnd and dnd adjacent games.

How much micromanagement do your games have?

I've been lax with the rules, but I'm worried I'm too nice. The biggest thing I haven't been strict about is torches.

In your games, are torches a reusable resource, or do you have them be consumable where they must carry multiple torches?

Edit*

Let's be clear, I think torches should be tracked too, but I often forget about them. I think I'm going to start employing the shadowdark hour timer moving forward to help with that.

How crunchy is the game compared to dnd 5e?

Edit*

I was at work when I posted my initial question. To expand a little. I'm a big fan of Dragonbane and not 5e at all. Since mythras and Dragonbane have a sort of shared lineage, I'm interested in checking out classic fantasy as an option for a more indebth game.
