Does changing characteristics influence skills that depend on that characteristic?
Or do they stay the same?
Or do they stay the same?
Like, can I put a human spirit in an animal body? How do combat numbers work in terms of combat styles?
Hey everyone!
I’m preparing to GM Mythras for my local tabletop community soon. Over here, Call of Cthulhu is the second most popular game (only behind d&d), so my players are already comfortable with percentile / d100 mechanics. The main onboarding friction for them will definitely be tactical combat and tracking Hit Points by body location.
To make the transition smoother, I’d love to 3D print some physical, intuitive trackers for my players.
Up until now, I’ve been using my 3D-printed D&D spell slot counter (see attached image) by assigning each spell level to a body part. It gets the job done, but it’s not very visual or intuitive for new players.
Has anyone come across a 3D model / STL for a humanoid-shaped tracker?
Ideally, I’m looking for something shaped like a body outline (Head, Chest, Abdomen, Arms, Legs) with slots where players can place dice (d6s/d10s) or tokens to track each limb's HP.
If you’ve seen something like this on Printables, Thingiverse, etc, or if you use another physical tool at your table to track location damage, I’d love to hear your recommendations!
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Mythras, and I'm planning to use it to run Waterdeep: Dragon Heist.
I've read both the Mythras core rulebook and Classic Fantasy, but I don't really want to use Classic Fantasy's class/rank-based advancement system. I'd prefer to keep the normal, more open and skill-based character development of Mythras.
However, I would still like my players to have access to things like Arcane Magic and Divine Magic, rather than removing those kinds of magic from the game.
I'm not particularly trying to preserve the D&D 5e magic system or make Mythras magic feel like D&D. I'm completely fine with magic working differently. What I'm mainly looking for is a good way to let player characters learn and use Arcane/sorcery and Divine/Theism spells while still using normal Mythras character advancement instead of Classic Fantasy's class/rank progression.
Does anyone have experience doing something like this?
Are there any supplements, optional rules, house rules, or approaches you would recommend? In particular, I'm interested in how you would handle things like learning new spells, access to more powerful spells, and character progression without relying on Classic Fantasy ranks.
Since this will also be my first time GMing Mythras, I'd also really appreciate any general advice for a new Mythras GM, especially when adapting a D&D adventure like Dragon Heist.
I'm not trying to convert D&D 5e mechanics one-to-one. I mainly want to use Dragon Heist as the adventure, while using Mythras as the actual game system.
Thanks in advance!
Hi. Not played mythras for years since using it to run elric of melnibone.
I've an idea re a campaign for warring 14th C Italian city states. And was originally thinking of dragonbane or Pendragon but remembered mythras.
Is the Venice book any use? Can you push rolls in mythras, are there passions etcand are there any rules around sword fencing styles etc.
