I’ve been experimenting with ways to quantify live match momentum beyond just standard xG, and this Yokohama vs. Sagamihara match (check the image please) is a perfect case study in signal detection.

While the score was still 1-3, the data was screaming that a shift was happening. If you look at the timeline in screenshot, you can see the pressure building long before the final minute.

We have built an Goal Guru to create custom football notifications and AI Analysis. I am using it catch the live matches that are interesting for me. You can find it at goalguru.live or on the App Store/Google Play because it actually lets you architect your own "If/Then" triggers based on these live dynamics.

What makes this useful for data-heavy analysis is the ability to layer conditions:

  • Custom Smart Alerts: You can set triggers for "Sustained Pressure" or "High Shot Volume" rather than just waiting for a goal ping.
  • Momentum Visualization: It provides a real-time graph of who is actually controlling the pitch, which caught the Yokohama "Goal Imminent" signal at the 67' mark.
  • AI Logic Engine: There’s a "Guru AI Bot" and an "Ask Guru" feature where you can actually query the live match logic to get tactical breakdowns of why the momentum is shifting.

For anyone interested in the "invisible" side of football analytics, like pressing efficiency and unrewarded pressure, this tool is much more signal than noise. It helps you move away from chasing the score and start tracking the actual flow of the game.

I wanted to show you guys a perfect example from the Yokohama vs. Sagamihara game to detect change in the football matches and get instant notifications before that changes.

The game ended 3-3, but look at the "Smart Alerts" section at the image. Even though Sagamihara was leading 3-1, the analytics started picking up massive shifts way before the goals actually happened.

At the 64th minute, while Yokohama was still down by two, it triggered a “Favorite Team Pressure and Shots” alert and later other alerts also triggered. Each time I take action and goal occurred minutes later. These alerts follow any matches based on the conditions I put and the app, Goal Guru, sends me instant notifications.

I’ve built and been using this app called Goal Guru to set Smart Alerts. What’s cool is that instead of just getting a notification for a goal, you can create custom triggers based on:

Pressure & Intensity: Knowing when a team is sustaining high shot volume or keeping a team pinned.

Momentum Shifts: Real-time tracking of when the "Expected Outcome" starts to flip.

Layered Triggers: You can combine things like match time, goal difference, and shot counts—for example, "Alert me if the favorite is losing by 1 after 70' but has 15+ shots".

The “Guru AI Bot” in the app actually helps you architect these complex conditions so you don't have to be a math genius to use them. In this specific match, the alerts caught the "Favorite Team Pressure" at 64' and 76', basically telling me the comeback was brewing while the scoreline still looked safe for Sagamihara.

If you're tired of standard score apps that just spam you with every goal, this is a game-changer for actually understanding why a match is shifting.
Has anyone else used custom triggers like this for live matches?
It definitely makes watching the 90'+10' equalizer feel less like "luck" and more like a statistical inevitability.

Hi everyone,

Our team just released a major update to Goal Guru, and we wanted to share it with this community. We felt that football apps have been stuck in the same "notification loop" for years—you get a ping after the goal, but you never know the story of how it happened.

We wanted to build an app that acts more like a professional scouting tool.

The Main Feature - "Smart Alerts": Instead of standard score pings, you can now set multi-variable thresholds. For example: "Trigger alert if Team A possesses >60% momentum AND has generated 3+ corners in the last 15 minutes, but hasn't scored yet." It’s essentially a live data-filter for identifying in-play value.

What else we’ve packed into the latest build:

  • Guru AI Assistant: We’ve integrated an AI model that helps you architect these complex alerts. If you aren't sure which thresholds to set, you can ask the AI to analyze the match pulse and suggest the best tactical triggers.
  • Rolling 10-Match "Keys": We now provide deep historical context. You can track a team’s performance keys (shots, corners, goals) over a 10-match window to see if their live momentum is a fluke or a sustained trend.
  • Visual Momentum Tracker: A real-time "Pulse" graph that shows which team is actually controlling the match, regardless of possession percentages.

We’re a small team dedicated to building the most data-dense football app on the market. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the UI and how the "Smart Alert" logic feels in practice!

We would like hear your feedbacks and suggestions.

Hi everyone,

Our team posted here a while back about Goal Guru, our project aimed at quantifying live match momentum and letting users create custom personalized smart alerts. We received some great feedback regarding our metric weighting, and we wanted to share a significant update on how we’ve evolved the engine based on those discussions.

Our main feature "Smart Alerts": We’ve upgraded our Guru AI to act as a logic consultant. Instead of guessing thresholds, you can use the AI to determine which data combinations (like momentum spikes vs. high-pressure sustained corners) are statistically significant for the specific match pulse you're tracking. Thus, you can easily create Smart Alerts specific to each league.

For instance, our AI model can say that in the Premier League, 5 shots and 10 dangerous attack in the last 10 minute might be a good indication for a goal. However, it might not be enough for UEFA Europa League. So, it can suggest you to increase shot number to 7 or also adding another condition as corners.

Other improvements:

  • Integrated Performance Keys: We now calculate deep-dive metrics (shots, corners, and box entries) across a rolling 10-match window. This contextualizes the live "Pulse" better.
  • Tactical Inference Engine (Guru AI): We’ve tuned our AI to act less like a commentator and more like a scout. It now identifies shifts in pressing structures and transition speeds, providing a quantitative breakdown of tactical changes as they occur. You can discuss live and upcoming matches with it.
  • Reduced Data Latency: We’ve optimized our pipeline to ensure that the "Smart Alerts" trigger within seconds of the pitch event, allowing for a truly real-time analytical experience.

We are committed to making this the most data-transparent tool for fans who prefer analytics over "gut feelings."

Looking forward to a second round of technical feedback!

Hey everyone,

We’re a small team of football fans and data nerds who got tired of the "major" live score apps. Most of them do the same thing. They spam you with every goal or card, but they never tell you how the game is actually playing, what is going on in the game.

We built Goal Guru because we wanted to see the "invisible" side of the match. Instead of waiting for a goal to happen, we wanted an app that could tell us when a team’s press intensity spikes or when a game’s momentum shifts before the score changes or before a red card or just to catch a interesting game for you.

A few things we’ve been working on:

  • Custom Smart Alerts: You build your own "If/Then" triggers. For example: "Alert me if the Away team has >70% momentum and 3+ shots in a 10-minute window."
  • Live Momentum Visualization: A real-time graph that shows who is actually controlling the pitch, not just who has the ball.
  • Deep Historical "Keys": We’ve added advanced stats for the last 10 matches, tracking sustained trends in shots, corners, and goals so you can see a team's true form.
  • Analytical Assistant (Ask Guru): We’ve integrated a specialized football logic engine that you can chat with to get tactical breakdowns of live match dynamics.

We’ve put a lot of work into the UI to make it feel like a professional scouting tool. It’s built for fans who want to cut through the noise and only get notified when a match actually becomes worth watching. We want to notify people when something is actually important for them.

We’d love to get some honest feedback from this community.

Does the momentum tracking feel intuitive? Are there specific tactical "keys" you think our team should add to the historical data?
