Model YL and UMC

Model YL and UMC

I got my car about 3 weeks ago and primarily use the UMC to charge (15A tail)

The issue I am experiencing is that UMC will error out from scheduled charging. I took the car in with the UMC yesterday and Tesla confirmed both works fine individually but not together.

The SA indicated this is a “known bug” and hand waved it to either a firmware update or UMC gen3 ks going to fix this.

This is quite frustrating obviously because I schedule to charge at 11pm, and sometimes to find out in the morning that the car hasn’t charged at all is extremely frustrating.

I can’t reliably replicate the issue either. Some nights it would start completely fine no drama and sometimes it would just error out.

The only thing I can confirm is that once it’s in this state, UMC would not auto recover until I unplug from the wall side.

Are all YL owners experiencing this with UMC? I found one post from 2 months back that talked about a similar issue but I would think this is more prevalent if the SA is telling me this is a known issue. Thanks

Newly installed solar. The CES came back yesterday. Noticed the CES says 2 strings but the install is only 12 panels on one string.

So I went down the rabbit hole of checking whether I’m losing out on production (I definitely am) then whether it’s a dangerous install.

Turns out, the installer used a different panel than quoted, which in theory is beneficial to me. But the maximum current on those panels is 15.46A (16.52A short circuit) vs 13.18A (14.06A short circuit) quoted. The inverter only support 15A maximum and has a 18A short circuit. In short, moving to 2 strings would not solve my issue (because it’s over ampage not voltage)

At first glance this seems non-compliant?

Called ESV, they said the inspector who fucked up the CES is definitely worth a complain, but not sure if install is compliant without a site inspection.

Looking for advice on what to do next, do I get the installer to come back and fix it, if so, how? Do I leave it as is? Thanks

Newly installed battery. I thought it was because the breaker door was not closed properly. But it is.

Is it a design fault, install fault, or much of nothing? My whole life I’ve been taught moisture and electricity shouldn’t mix.

Thanks
