Need help on window replacement

Hello fellow homeowners - I need to replace my upstairs windows in my bedrooms. I got two quotes. Both from local companies who will do install, hall away, and touch ups. Both are within a few hundred dollars of each other but I’m trying to decide how to decide between them. The first is slightly cheaper and they quoted me for Anlin crank windows. The second company is a more well known local company, who quoted me for Anderson 100 series sliders. Note this is NOT renewal by Anderson, but a local lumbar and window company to my area. I found the first company via a Google / Yelp search in my area.

Ideally I’d like to go with the sliders so have asked the first company to quote those but am trying to figure out how to make the decision and questions I should ask both companies to make the decision. The obvious first one is Anlin vs Anderson and then what else should I be looking out for? What are potential red flags with both companies?

I’m slightly inclined to go with the more expensive, yet more well known company - but I feel as if I need to be better prepared to even make the decision.

Any guidance or help would be appreciated! This is my first time doing a larger project on my house.

Purchasing help: Sole F85 vs Horizon 7.4 AT or…?

Hello fellow runners and walkers! I am looking to purchase a treadmill - I like others got bamboozled by wire cutters rec for the Nordictrak but have quickly found that I should under no circumstances get one or trust wire cutter anymore. I’ve read through many posts on both the Sole F85 and Horizon 7.4 but am looking for some direct feedback from this community on the purchase.

A little about me: I am a former very serious runner with 4 marathons (PB: 3:39) and countless halves (PB: 1:44) and other distances under my belt. Over the last 4 years, I’ve run casually and exclusively outside during 3 pregnancies and post partum, but am getting back into running seriously after having 3 kids. My preference is to run outdoors, and will whenever I have the chance, but with 3 under 4, having the option to run while at home and potentially put serious miles onto a treadmill is a necessity. I would ideally like to keep my purchase (with delivery) under $3K USD. I haven’t done a ton of treadmill running, but durability for 35+ mile weeks (plus walking) with less fussy maintenance is a priority over a screen, etc. I expect to do easy, distance, and speed work on the treadmill. It will live in my garage.

I can’t think of much else to add but would love some feedback on if the F85 or 7.4 seem like a better fit for my needs or another machine within my price range.

Week 20 - Berries: Strawberry Cornmeal Cake

Another Claire Saffitz recipe! I made a non-refined sugar version for the kids and made them into little trifles for easier eating.

I liked this recipe but had made the cake ahead of time and froze it. I know it isn’t supposed to impact taste but felt as if the cake was a bit dense and dry - I can’t tell if that was because of the cornmeal or because I overbaked it.

Anyways it was still yummy and tasty and everyone enjoyed it!

Week 19 - Geometric: Italian Rainbow Cookies

I wonder how many weeks I’m going to make rainbow cookies fit the brief 😂🤣

I think we’re at at least 2 if not 3. Anyways. They’re always a hit - made them for my daughter’s birthday party for the adults.

I’ve done the buttercream twice now and gotten the eggs to whip up really well. I’ve mixed until 10+ minutes so it’s fully room temp and then both times I’ve added one piece of butter and it turned to soup. The internet told me to chill the soup and keep going and I’ve done that 2x now (20 mins total) and it’s still soup. Any tips? Do I just keep mixing? Cut my losses and try again? It’s basically at a ribbon stage now with the eggs, incorporated sugar syrup and 2 tbs of butter.

I batch bake these muffins for my toddlers anytime we run out. I reduce the sugar to 3/4 of what is called for in the original recipe and use either coconut sugar or date sugar as a swap. When I’m feeling fancy, I top with a cream cheese and maple syrup frosting. We love farmers market blueberries!

I love this recipe and have made it many times before. Because I can’t resist a lemon poppy combo, I always add poppyseeds. I’ve never been able to achieve the crystallization she talks about in the recipe but still love how moist this one turns out. This one is super easy and accessible to whip up in an afternoon and pleasantly uncomplicated for a WFD recipe. And sometimes you don’t get a pic before someone digs in!
