IVDD or no? HELP
My 4 yr old French Bulldog yelped walking up a step yesterday. We rushed her to the ER Vet thinking the worst. She was walking fine and passed all physical tests. He did an X-ray and said she has bridging spondylosis near her tailbone that was causing the pain, and surgery is too risky for that area. He said once it fused together her pain would be gone but she'd have limited mobility typical of arthritis. But then said the X-ray showed she has IVDD in her upper Thoracic region in 2-3 discs. Didn't give me a stage and said we probably have a year, maybe longer before it paralyzed her and we'd have to put her down unless we had about 10,000 for surgery. So he told us to be careful, no stairs, no jumping on/off furniture, etc. But it was still just a matter of time. I left in a state of shock because she's very active and healthy. I know Frenchies are very prone to IVDD but can he give such a diagnosis from an X-ray? I can't post the image of the X-ray for some reason. I'm so confused and heartbroken.
