Drum Machine VST that can run in standalone mode?

Hi,

I have the Arturia collection of VSTs and Pigments and they can run in standalone version without using a DAW, which I quite like.

I like hooking up my controller and running the synths that way in standalone. My question, is there a good drum machine in VST that can be run in standalone mode as well, so I could say open the drum machine and open pigments and play them both without going into the DAW?

Low Noise and Portability

I am looking for a field recorder with low noise.

The F3 looks great, but I worry that the cords on the mics and holding the mics kind of cancel out the portability a bit or at least might be hard to manage.

So, I read that the new Handy H5 stu_dio has the same low noise as the F3...does anyone know if this is true? Are the plugin mics on the Handy H5 good? or is it such a quality difference that I should just suck up the F3 and cords and figure out how to manage that?

Granular Question: GR MEGA or a small Granular setup

I have seen a couple of granular rigs that are very small, like Samploo and this one put together by the Unperson.

I guess I've been wondering if I wanted to have a real granular workstation does something like the GR Mega make the most sense or does it make more sense (flexible, capable, complete) to do something like a small rack with the Arbhar and maybe Multigrain or Morphagene and say like sealegs and pam's workout.

I'm not the most technical person, but my understanding (which is probably not complete) is that really the modular approach gives me more than GR Mega. Thoughts? Ideas?

Choosing between Push 3 and External Gear. What are your thoughts and experiences.

Hi, I'm an Ableton Live user and I like to make techno/hypnotic techno and also enjoy ambient and kind of less structured music. So, those are the two categories I enjoy generally speaking. I'm also not a professional musician or anything like that. Here's what I've been wondering...

The Push 3 standalone really appeals to me because I like the idea of being able to go away and make music and also use it as a controller too.

But, then I've also been looking at a couple things like the Torso S-4 / Tempera and the Korg Phase8 / Soma machines.

So... I'm trying to decide what makes more sense. To buy a Push 3 Standalone and make that my instrument and really just commit. OR does it make sense to leave Ableton on the computer and get these other devices. It seems like the Phase8 and the Soma can do things that aren't easy to replicate with the same versatility as in Ableton...but maybe I'm totally wrong about that.

I'd be curious to hear thoughts from people about external gear like i've mentioned or the Push 3 standalone. Regrets, thoughts, preferences, experiences. You all always have the best things to say, so let me know!

Do you know of a good stand for hardware like this? Small, but sturdy?

Does anyone know who makes this stand? or a stand like it?

What is the equal of similar of Push for live performance?

Curious, in Bitwig, what would be something very similar or equal to Push 3 for live performance?

I was kind of thinking that I could use like Novation launch pad and then an MPE controller like the Exquis to get the same functionality? Does that makes sense? Am I stupid (probably :-) or are there better ideas?

Thanks in advance!
