Ah, yes, I just stumbled upon the United Cities pacifier. The somehow dead United Cities pacifier. The dead pacifier of the hostile United Cities. The dead pacifier of the hostile United Cities who were basically the only living people in the quarter of the world I was living in.

I’m basically being treated as a terrorist faction since I accidentally started a civil war in all nearby cities… the closest one being Shark, after being declared an enemy of the United Cities for trespassing, assault, trying to free my comrades, starting a fight, getting imprisoned, trying again… infinite loop.

In Shark, I didn’t even understand what started it. I wonder if bulls automatically attack neutral characters. I’ve seen them assault random civilians for no reason, which then escalates into a hostile fight. And in Shark, it’s basically Grand Theft Auto.

I don’t usually save scum, but since I started with what was just a tiny shack near Clownsteady to rest, and ended up building a walled outpost, defending it from United Cities assaults, and setting up a full rum distillery, I reset before the attack. Not to make it easier, just because I didn’t understand what caused such a chain reaction. Swampers were already hostile on the first day I arrived in Shark.

We’re going to feel a bit isolated in Ivresse-du-Désert now. But what triggers a civil war can be really unclear sometimes. I feel like one day entire empires will collapse just because I stepped a toe into someone’s kitchen.

Recruits basically ask you for a certain amount of money, around 3,000 to 6,000 cats, to join your squad.

But once they’re in, your squad kind of takes care of them : they benefit from your home, your protection, your food, your… economy. You’re literally paying them to support them.

Since no one in your faction has their own economy, you’re just paying money that doesn’t even go back to your faction when you recruit them, even though it should.
