ChatGPT era - do customers usually understand why small jobs still cost a decent amount?
Hey good people.
I was thinking about this today at a job. ChatGPT explained to my customer that fixing the garage door is about 30 minutes work, shouldn't "be a biggie" as he called it, and made it sound like it can be done by your neighbour's cat.
A customer might only see a job take 30 minutes, but they don't see the travel time, experience, tools, insurance, and everything else that goes into it (not to mention potential damage!!!)
Do you find yourself explaining pricing often, or do most customers understand? also, did they confront you with "AI said it should be $150" when it's a $500 job?
I feel like it's an AITA post 😂
