Motes - TLDR Version
Obtaining:
Sources say the higher the /con level (white/yellow/red), the higher chance a mote (of any level) drops. Named have an even higher chance.
The level of mote you can get is dependent/modified by the difficulty of the zone you are in.
I.e- If you run D0 Befallen, you will mainly get the level 1 Infinitesimal mote with maybe a few level 2 minor motes.
You run D1 Befallen, you mainly get level 2 minor motes and maybe a few level 3 lesser motes…
Run d4 Befallen, you mainly get level 5 major potential motes
Soooo… if you run D4 Befallen, but are level 30, you probably won’t have any motes drop since everything is below your level.
Usage of Motes
- Using motes on spells is different than using on equipment.
(Using motes on spells is more advantageous).
The reason: Any level mote can be used on any level skill, while only the corresponding level of mote will work with equipment.
I.e - You CAN use a level 1 infinitesimal mote on a regular non + gear. You CANNOT use them once the gear is +1.
Additionally… using the corresponding “level” of mote on a magic spell will raise the spell to the next level, while the mote on equipment will only give you 1/X to the next level.
Meaning. You need 2 lesser motes to move a piece of equipment from +1 to +2, yet you need only 1 lesser mote to move a spell from I to II.
Using motes on spells:
Increases the effectiveness (dmg amnt, heal amnt, level of mob effected)
Efficiency Spells cost less , cast faster, and recover for next cast faster, duration lasts longer
Builds in -resistance into the spell so the chance of not being resisted is higher.
** Keep in mind certain equipment such as quest rewards, you will want to use motes on at low levels prior to merging to get the most effective use/return/value.
