Love this watch. It’s not my favorite Timex Chronograph, that honor goes to the Waterbury Chrono “Baby Zenith” with the colorful subregisters, but this is almost as fun.
That said, “Marlin Neo Classic Chronograph” is a clunky name, we need to workshop a nickname lol.

Head to head comparison of the original 1975 Marlin telephone dial (26961 02775) and the recently-released “1976 Rotary Phone Dial Reissue” (TW2Y82100), for this shot I put each of them on the same strap, save the width at the lug end.
The 1975 version measurements: 34mm width, 40mm, 12.7mm thick, 19mm (3/4”) lugs, manual-wind movement (m27), dark blue sunray dial.
The modern version measurements: 37mm width, 44mm length, 11.6mm thick, 20mm lugs, quartz movement, satin black dial.
I prefer the vintage version’s narrower tonneau case with the tighter curve to the lug ends. However, these vintage timex movements tend to run well (this one runs great except when it sticks a bit upon first starting up), but setting the day and date is a monumental hassle, not just because there’s no quickset and you have to go back and forth between 6:30PM and midnight to change the date, but also, Timex always had the tiniest of crowns in the 70s at least (I’ve not owned a 1960s model) and turning it is incredibly difficult. The vintage dial is beautiful, with a subtle, shimmering dark blue sunray effect, while the modern has a satin-finish black color.
I picked up this Hamilton Chronograph, and I am a bit confused about the reference number for it. The caseback is inscribed “3828” which should be the reference.
But I also see listings for this watch that say the reference is 36601. I suspect 36601 is the subsequent reference starting in 2001(?) — without cathedral hands — but am struggling to be certain. Anyone have any insight into this?
I also am curious as to the precise model name, I see a lot of different versions online, some calling it a khaki pilot, others a khaki field, others a khaki chronograph.
I find eating food so unsatisfying after getting my immediate upper denture. Does this ever improve? Ever at least get used to it?

I got my soft Reline today. Feels
much better against my gums, of course, and it really snaps in there. But the back sticks so far down into my mouth that i’ve randomly started to gag without anything else in my mouth. I’m eating some soup and the noodles are hard to eat, there’s barely any room in my mouth it feels like. Anyone else deal with this and have it get better over time?
I suspect a redial, here, but it’s a fun watch, and the movement and case are correct, hand shapes look right to me. Picked up a couple years ago.
Eight days in with upper immediates, and I would KILL to eat something with some crunch, ugh. I’m trying to think of things that crunch but are not hard at all. I’m sick of soft food, but I managed to find some noodle bowl frozen meals that have been a great step toward “food” food, and i have had sushi twice now, eaten with care.
i am exhausted by the cognitive load of something in my mouth all the time, it’s so hard to focus. I know it will take time. Man, I am not enjoying this lol.
Newer refs of the Combat Sub 42 have had some stylistic updates that make it no longer just a cheap Submariner clone. They get a more contemporary handset, applied wedge indices, crosshair dial, nice sharply-printed chapter ring, and the they no longer come with the mediocre hollow-ended bracelet and just come on a NATO strap, bracelet available separately I suspect. The case is updated, as well, but still retains the 10.5mm for 20BAR WR the line has been known for since forever. Sellita SW200 movement. All for $515 US. Cheaper than many microbrands using Japanese movements. If you’ve rejected Giycine in the past, might be worth a look. I like it on leather, here, if I’m honest. The design is very flexible and can read as a tool or sport watch, easily. My first diver a few years ago was a Glycine Combat Sub and here I am coming back around.
The Waterbury Chronograph 41mm is a heck of a watch, I keep calling it the Baby Zenith because it looks Zenithy with the multicolored subregisters. I don’t love the bracelet and tried a few alternatives until i found this inexpensive straight end one on AliX. I really love this look. This is one of the best current Timex models.
