So, I order Amazon grocery delivery frequently. On rare occasions, the order has to be canceled. As you may know, when you place an order like this, your financial institution places a hold on your account for slightly more than your order totaled. With the notification from Amazon that the order was canceled, the hold is released and you have access to those funds again. It usually takes 3-5 business days.
I placed a grocery order on April 26th, and it had to be canceled a few hours after placing it. The order totaled $115.65. On Friday May 1st, $115.65 was deducted from my Chime account, listed as a purchase at Amazon. The money has never been put back into my account.
I made screenshots of all the documentation that Amazon had on this canceled transaction, and submitted them to Chime. Three days after doing that, they emailed me and asked me to submit screenshots of my documentation.
Then the mobile app stopped taking my password. I asked for a password reset email, got it, changed my password, and the app wouldn't take my newly reset password. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Chime trying to solve this problem. We could not get it to work. At the request of the representative, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, twice. It did not work. I restarted my phone, twice. It still did not work.
I discovered on my own that I could access my account through a web browser, but I could not see the dispute I had opened over the missing $115.65.
I have now just spent another fruitless hour on the phone with Chime, trying to understand what is happening with my dispute. I got boilerplate language, and no answers at all. Neither of the two people I spoke with could even verify if they'd received my screenshots, nor could they answer the simplest questions about the situation.
They have had my money since April 26th.
Chime was great - until it wasn't. Now it's just me trying to wade through a thicket of AI garbage, to talk to uninterested representatives who have no answers to give me, about why the app stopped working, or when I can expect to see my money back in my account.
