Class Outline for incoming Freshman (Need Advice)

Incoming Freshman studying Computer Engineering here hoping to minor in computing & intelligence or computing & mathematics.

Is this a Good Course load for the fall 2026?

CS1301 - Intro to Computing (3)

M1554 - Intro Linear Algebra (4)

C1310 - Prin of Gen Chem for Engr (4)

P2211 Principle of Physics (4)

Other miscellaneous required course for a certain program (1)

I know the average credit hour at tech is 16, but I do not know how heavy the course load is between pure academic classes. I am stopping at 16 b/c I don't want to be stressed by taking another course.

Research: GTRI and VIP involvement

I am an incoming freshman studying CompE.

What is the best way to get yourself involved with research? Cold email, connections, etc?

The title.

I know the SPS scholarship gives stipends for research or trips, but what advantage does Gold Scholars get in terms of research or clubs

Cost is not a factor. I want to pursue something engineering/CS related but I do not know which one I should choose.

I am instate for GT and in the honors programs, so Idk if that is a heavy factor.

Post-Grad plan is to either to PhD or go straight into work force, which one would have a better outcome?

Ts is so funny to me b/c everytime i see the name of GT popping up in A2C, it always catches strays XD. Like I don't think it is a bad school especially for engineering (might be biased b/c i am an incoming freshman), but people always dismiss it over other top public like UMich.

Like chill, i get it GT has a lot of NPC due to the curriculum but damn...
