Legion 5 Gen 10 arriving in a few days, need advice

finally getting delivered in around 3-4 days, very excited ngl

Specs: Legion 5 Gen 10 / Ryzen 7 260 / RTX 5050 8GB/ 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / OLED display

final price including '3y (adp + ultimate warranty)' was around ₹113k (~$1178) using

Used:

  • UNBOX7CTO
  • EXTRASAVINGSS
  • SheerID Student Discount
  • 10% CC cashback

I had a few questions regarding first-time setup and long-term care:

  1. Apart from recording unboxing video, checking specs, dead pixels etc., what else should I immediately verify/change on Day 1?
  2. I’ll be using local Windows account via oobe\bypassnro, then doing Windows updates. Are all Windows updates safe/mandatory?
  3. BIOS updates: I’ve seen many posts regarding Legion BIOS issues/motherboard deaths recently. Should I avoid BIOS updates unless there’s an actual issue? Same question for GeForce driver updates.
  4. Benchmarks/stress tests: Should I run Cinebench/3DMark/games immediately after setup to test thermals and stability?
  5. Undervolting/overclocking: I don’t know much about this yet. Is undervolting recommended for Legion laptops? Is it safe for beginners?
  6. Cooling: Will normal room cooling (ac/cooler) be enough for the Legion, or should I get a cooling pad too? If yes, please suggest good cooling pads under ₹2-3k (can’t afford those ₹10-15k IETS/Llano ones 😭).
  7. OLED protection: Lenovo includes that thin keyboard cloth/sheet inside the laptop. Can I keep using that long-term while closing the lid, or should I get a silicone keyboard cover?

also if anyone cares, this is my first gaming laptop, currently i've been using hp x360 i3-10th gen. 😭so yeah, massive upgrade for me

Also huge thanks to this sub, genuinely helped me research a lot before ordering.
