I have a Samsung A50 phone which I bought 7 years ago with a Freedom Mobile monthly plan, $24/mo. I am perfectly happy to keep the same plan with Freedom, but figure that it is time to upgrade the phone. I am thinking of buying an unlocked Samsung A57 from Costco, and do all the upgrade steps myself. My research online says that all I need to do is:

• buy the A57 phone,
• connect it to my current A50 phone (via USB-C to USB-C cable),
• run Smart Switch to transfer the data from the old to the new phone,
• move the SIM card from the old to the new phone.

Is this really all I need to do? Are their any other steps missing? Will I need to let Freedom Mobile know I have a new phone?

Was out on my bike this morning, riding along the Beltline trail. A group of 6 special constables on bikes passed by me going in the opposite direction (in the section around Avenue Rd. and Oriole Pkwy.). I live in the neighbourhood, and have been riding along this trail for years, usually a few times per week during riding season. This is the first time I have seen special constables patrolling the trail. Do you think they were just using the trail to head somewhere else? Were they responding to some incident? (6 constables is a rather large group to be dealing with a routine matter).

It got me wondering if the City is responding to complaints about people using the trail - e.g. cyclists going too fast, ebikes going way too fast, dogs off leash, kids on e-scooters (hopefully with helmets, but not always). Do you think the City is going to start enforcing whatever bylaws they have on the books for trail use?
