Is that a bike?

Has anyone noticed an increased amount of people walking across bike lanes while their face is buried in their phones and not even looking before they cross?
Saw a woman yesterday walk right into the bike lane and cut off a cyclist and was completely unaware of what she did until they yelled at her. It was pretty dangerous on her part and took zero accountability.
Stay safe out there.
Do you bike in Scarborough? A public consultation for the Scarborough Bluffs West Project will be held on Monday, June 1 (5:30 - 8:30 PM) at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute (3663 Danforth Avenue).
The public consultation materials will become available on Tuesday, May 26 at the website linked below and the survey will be open from then until Tuesday, June 30.
You may have caught a glimpse of me catching the tracks on King in front of Earls (bright blue jacket, epic fall). I struggled to save it. And went down on the pavement during rush hour. Luckily no other cyclists or cars were around me, just a hundred or so people leaving work.
I am ok thankfully. Just frustrated with the situation considering I’ve been riding king all winter and throughout 2026.
Just venting, anyone else fall victim to the tracks?
PS. I am not anti streetcar. But those tracks really came outta no where!
I know this has probably been asked before, but when I cross one of the busiest and most dangerous roads in the GTA, namely the Pottery Road crossing on the Lower Don Trail, I constantly wonder why there are still no traffic calming measures here? The trail crosses a busy road and the bike crossing is at the bottom of a blind corner at the bottom of the hill. Traffic is almost always going over the limit and it is incomprehensible to me that cyclists and pedestrians have to take an unacceptable risk every time they cross. Like to see the city put in speed bumps at least.
Was out for a rip this evening and saw a bunch of dudes riding cool mtbs
Is this a group ride or something ?
On Monday, I biked from Barrie to Collingwood including along the recently extended rail trail which now starts at Angus. While I plan to do a video compilation soon, my blog post reviewing the trail is now up for your viewing pleasure.
Hi all!
I am planning on bike packing from Kagoshima to Tokyo this June/July and am looking for someone/some people to bike with for any part. I love riding my bike but have never ridden long distances and never have bike packed before. So I am definitely a beginner!
I don't know if ill make it all the way to Tokyo but I plan to keep going as long as its fun or I run out of time as I have to fly back home to Canada sometime in July to start preparing for my next semester of uni.
Let me know if you want to meet up!
btw, I forgot to mention that I have a rough route planned out where I have hotels/campsites every 100km but I may keep a more leisurely pace of ~50km-80km as its my first time. Also, I have a Cannondale Topstone 1 gravel bike but I am planning on sticking to paved roads mainly but will definitely be looking for cool rindo side roads if possible. I am really laid back so I am open to being flexible with pace or accommodation!
I really appreciate any advice or recommendations!!!
Some good news - the city recently (in the past week) upgraded the traffic-signaled intersection at Lakeshore and Bastion from cars-only to a new signaled pedestrian crossing. Unlike the existing crossing just east of this one at Stadium Rd, this crossing connects directly to the MGT. For cyclists, that means no putzing around on sidewalks and streets after crossing Lakeshore. Great news for pedestrians and cyclists alike, if you live in the Fort York area.
Bike Share Toronto needs to hire actual cyclists for their team.
I get it. He was only there for about 5 mins.
You can see him transferring bikes. It sends a clear message to anyone passing by that’s it’s no big deal to park in a bike lane for a few mins.
Hi, I have a road bike that Id like to have someone to install SRAM rival parts on. I dont have the knowledge or desire to do it myself. Any recommendations of quality bike shops that you'd recommend? Anywhere in GTA is fine.
I'm thinking of La Bicicletta or Wheels of Bloor? Any comments on these two shops? Open to other suggestions.
It doesn't at all have a brand name, or a mount. Photos included in the comments.
Upright, Upside down, On (from behind, upright) and another of it on. Video shows it at a grainy resolution (it's upscaled, webcam is 720p) but in similar details.
I was at the park today, and noticed some relatively new signage about “Please walk your bike”. (I was there quickly last week and didn’t notice them, but to be fair I was going to a very specific point rather than exploring. The signs look crisp, no weathering at all, not even dusty).
To me, based on the various postings, these signs indicated not to ride your bike on the limestone trails. Makes sense, I comply. In one location there is a “Please walk your bike” sign on the righthand side about 5m before a fork in the path, asphalt continues to the left and limestone to the right. I register this as being for the limestone as it is the only fence post on the righthand side to affix the sign. at the fork point there is a post roughly the middle (albeit, slightly close to the asphalt side) that also as a “please walk your bike sign”. Again, I attribute this to the limestone trial although it could be interpreted as being for the asphalt. We are going very slow, maybe 10km/hr, and a walker yells at us that there is a sign “to walk your bikes you assholes”. He’s angry, I don’t engage as he doesn’t seem like a person to discuss the placement or logic of signage with. We continue and at least 5 cyclist ride past us going the other way. I never see a “please walk your bike“ on this portion of asphalt trail again despite other junctions.
To give this a bit of humour, we had the exact opposite encounter minutes later we are riding along the asphalt path with the bike markers painted on them. Some dog walkers asked us if they were on a bike path. I said to the best of my knowledge it was multi-use. Although, as we continued we only ever saw bikes and no walkers. That then made me wonder, are the park paths divided into pedestrian and cyclist only paths?
Does anyone know the rules? Is my logic incorrect about limestone vs paved? I couldn’t find a trail map on the park website and the only rules for bikes are to be courteous and lock up only at bike racks.
Was out on my bike this morning, riding along the Beltline trail. A group of 6 special constables on bikes passed by me going in the opposite direction (in the section around Avenue Rd. and Oriole Pkwy.). I live in the neighbourhood, and have been riding along this trail for years, usually a few times per week during riding season. This is the first time I have seen special constables patrolling the trail. Do you think they were just using the trail to head somewhere else? Were they responding to some incident? (6 constables is a rather large group to be dealing with a routine matter).
It got me wondering if the City is responding to complaints about people using the trail - e.g. cyclists going too fast, ebikes going way too fast, dogs off leash, kids on e-scooters (hopefully with helmets, but not always). Do you think the City is going to start enforcing whatever bylaws they have on the books for trail use?
I had a [bad crash](https://www.reddit.com/r/torontobiking/s/l6kYLX4IbJ) five weeks ago that left me with a broken finger, rib, and after the fact a hairline fracture on the femoral head. I've healed up relatively quickly, and have felt ready to be on the saddle. The last few days I've been back on the bike and it's been absolutely exhilarating. I've missed biking, and I hope you all have an amazing summer of adventures and great conditions!
