So back in December I had my IUD removed (that's a horror story for another time) and a few weeks later I felt like I'd developed a yeast infection. Since this isn't my first rodeo, I got some OTC monistat and went about my life. Well then the discomfort came back in January. But since it was like 1-2 out of 10 on the pain scale I thought maybe it was irritation to a new laundry detergent or something. Started being more mindful when washing underpants. The discomfort lasted maybe a week and went away. Okay then in February I had another week of discomfort. Went ahead and made an appointment with my gyne. Since my issue wasn't "urgent" they couldn't see me until April. Whatever. March comes and I think maybe the problem solved itself... then I get maybe 1-2 days of discomfort. FINALLY see the doctor. She swabs me, test results confirm candida albicans (negative for c. glabrata, bacterial vaginosis, UTI, STDs, pregnancy). She sends in a script for oral fluconazole. It's 3 pills to be taken 72 hours apart and on the box it says one pill should be enough to cure most yeast infections. I'm not trying to create antibiotic resistant strains, so I take all 3 as directed.

And then about a week later my symptoms are back. I used the external monistat cream and tee trea oil on the surrounding area for a few days hoping that would solve it but clearly not. Obviously I will be meeting with my doctor again but has anyone experienced something similar?

One of my biggest concerns is that my house has a bad odor that I no longer notice.

I'm not saying you need to be overly rude about it, but I also think it's something that we've become overly sensitive about. I want you to tell me if my house smells bad. I have a cat. Who hasn't been to a cat house that reeks of ammonia piss? Also, MOLD? Gas leaks?? It's crazy what you can become nose-blind to when exposed over time. A bad smell could be a sign of a much bigger issue at stake. Even if you can't immediately identify it, you can let them know something is off. And when someone tells you your house is funky, don't take it as a personal attack! Be thankful that you have an outside perspective who was willing to be blunt!
